We are honoured to have Dr Glauber Loures de Assis share his wisdom with us as a guest presenter during our 7-day IPAT Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy training.

Bringing his extensive work across psychedelic confluence, cosmic diplomacy, Indigenous biocultures and ethical collaboration, Glauber offers an important perspective on reciprocity, relationship and the future of psychedelic practice.

Simon will share insights from his work bridging psychedelic research, Western medicine and Indigenous approaches to healing, exploring how Indigenous knowledge, reciprocity and genuine collaboration can help shape the future of psychedelic science.

We are also very happy to officially welcome Simon as the newest Director on the IPAT team, and are grateful for the knowledge, experience and perspective he brings to our work.

WaiFung will share insights from Onaya Science’s research into ceremonial ayahuasca, exploring the intersection of science, ceremony, community, nature connection and integration, and what these different ways of understanding can bring to psychedelic-assisted care.

We are honoured to have Michael Raymond and Holly Paterson, Co-Founders of Heroic Hearts Project Australia, join us as guest facilitators for our upcoming IPAT 7-Day Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy On Country Training.

Drawing on lived experience and their work alongside veterans and first responders, Michael and Holly will explore veteran culture, trauma, identity and transition, and how these experiences can shape trust, vulnerability and the therapeutic relationship within psychedelic-assisted therapy.

This conversation is particularly timely, with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs now funding psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for eligible Australian veterans experiencing PTSD and treatment-resistant depression. As access to these therapies expands, understanding veteran culture and the unique experiences of serving and ex-serving people becomes increasingly important for practitioners working in this emerging field.

Their presentation brings an important lived-experience and cultural lens to how we can better understand and support those who have served.

Following Peter’s recent collaboration with We Al-li this presentation is shared through an interview dialogue exploring the resonance between his life’s work in trauma and Somatic Experiencing® and Indigenous understandings of healing, relationship, nervous system regulation and restoration.

Monica brings a wealth of clinical experience and knowledge in psychedelic-assisted therapy, and we are grateful to have her share her expertise, insights and learnings from working at the forefront of this emerging field in Australia.

August 9 | International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

Today we honour Indigenous peoples across the world and the living knowledge systems carried, protected and passed through thousands of generations.

August 9 marks the date of the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations in Geneva in 1982, an important moment in the international movement for the recognition and protection of Indigenous peoples’ rights.

More than four decades later, Indigenous peoples around the world continue to experience the ongoing impacts of colonisation and systemic inequities across health, education, justice, housing and access to culturally safe care.

Today is both a celebration of the strength and continuity of Indigenous cultures and a reminder of the work still required to uphold Indigenous rights, sovereignty and self determination.

At IPAT, we recognise that many of the medicines, practices and ways of knowing now entering Western psychedelic spaces have deep histories within Indigenous cultures.

With that comes responsibility.

To move beyond extraction towards reciprocity.
Beyond inclusion towards genuine relationship.
Beyond acknowledgement towards respect for Indigenous sovereignty and leadership.

Indigenous knowledge is not knowledge of the past. It is living, evolving and deeply relevant to our collective future.

Today we honour the Elders, Ancestors, knowledge holders and communities who continue to protect Country, culture, medicines and knowledge for generations to come.

Trauma-Informed Care & Practice: An Indigenous Approach to Developing Worker Skills

This 2-day immersive training invites you into a deeper way of understanding trauma, healing and practice through Indigenous knowledge systems.

Developed by Prof. Judy Atkinson & Dr Caroline Atkinson, this work weaves together Symptom as History, cultural safety and generational healing, offering a relational and embodied approach to care.

Delivered by IPAT under the .au Sovereign Business Model, honouring Indigenous governance, knowledge and ways of being.

This space is for health practitioners, therapists, educators and community workers who feel called to deepen their cultural competencies and responsiveness, and to learn Indigenous approaches to trauma recovery in ways that are relational, accountable and grounded in Country.
