National Reconciliation Week 2022: Be Brave. Make Change. 26/05/2022

What is National Reconciliation Week?
The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

National Reconciliation Week 2022: Be Brave. Make Change. This National Reconciliation Week we’re challenging all Australians to Be Brave and Make Change, so that we can create a more just, equitable and reconciled ...

Thanks to all the FDC Educators who attended the professional development training on Friday 12/12/21. WA-Multicultural FDCS believes:
- Good quality training and professional development are crucial to
increase the knowledge and skills of the FDC educators.
-Each family has its own characteristics, strengths, and resources.
-All families have strengths.
-Children and their families are part of a community.
-Families have the most influence on their children.
-Parents have interests, roles, and responsibilities in addition to
their family responsibilities.
-There are many ways for a family to be involved with their
children’s care.
-Families and WA-Multicultural FDCS Educators have something to
offer each other.

Dear FDC Educators

RE: COVID-19 (Novel coronavirus) – update 23/03/2020

This email provides a further update regarding the Western Australian Department of Health’s advice as it relates to information for parents of children and attendance at school and Early Childhood Centres and other developments in the evolving COVID -19 situation.

The State Government has declared a State of Emergency for Western Australia. The WA Police Commissioner as the State Emergency Coordinator has the relevant authority needed to enforce quarantine and self-isolation measures.

Parents must keep their children at home if they are sick and where appropriate seek advice from a medical practitioner. The FDC educator should identify a space that can be used to isolate a child who becomes sick until they are able to be collected by their parent or carer. Staff who become sick should be sent home for medical attention immediately.

Self-Isolation information can be found https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-self-isolation-faqs.

I strongly urge you to share this information with your parents and or guardians and regularly monitor the WA Department of Health website for updates. In the meantime, you may wish to access the WA Health FAQs Link. It is also important that you communicate with parents.

The Federal Government today announced amendments to help minimise the impact of the coronavirus on families using child care. These measures include:
1.increase the number of days that a family can continue to claim the Child Care Subsidy in cases where a child is absent from child care for more than the currently allowable 42 days
2. give a family access to additional absences, without the need for evidence, in relation to COVID-19
3. waive the current obligation of child care services to require a family to pay gap fees if the service is forced to close.
