Great trip to Japan but all too short. Memorable meeting with Saiko Shihan and his wife Ritsuko. Enjoyed dinner with them that evening and the following day we visited Nikko and the Toshogu Shrine and a strawberry farm. The next day Saiko Shihan was kind enough to drive us to Haneda Airport. After our dinner Brendan and Keiji were at our hotel where we had a few drinks to celebrate Keiji's birthday. Tried to convince Brendan to come back to Perth and again open a successful branch dojo. Fingers crossed.
Another highlight was our visit to Ricky Kaminski in Fukui. A beautiful city graced with wonderful cherry blossoms in full bloom. Visiting Ricky's university's karate club I was impressed with the discipline and the commitment. More skills to introduce to our squad training sessions. Thanks Ricky and to Nami for all your hospitality. Looking forward to seeing you again if not before then at the Goju-Kai Global Championships in Chiba 2025.
Disappointed that Nebashi Sensei was sick and unable to meet us in Nagano. The visit to the 'snow monkeys" was a killer effort on my part with the new knees and hips feeling every step. In the end it was worth it but I am glad there was no snow to contend with.

Good turnout despite the short notice and over 40 degrees temperature we got through the new basic techniques from Saiko Shihan's visit in November, kata, kata bunai, kenshu , genkaku and some kaishi kumite. Very productive two hour session.

Special seminars for any Brown Belt or Dan grade planning to attempt a higher grade in either March or June this year covering new aspects of the grading syllabus.
