Our Bunbury animal care students had an amazing week getting up close and personal with two beautiful reptiles! Students explored hands-on handling, feeding, and general care—the real skills they need for careers in animal care, wildlife management, and zoology.

🐚 CERT IV MARINE & ENVIRONMENTAL AT THE DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES 🐚

Our Cert IV Marine & Environmental students had an incredible day at the Department of Fisheries, diving deep into real-world marine science and aquaculture!

Students completed marine survey techniques to measure the health of our fisheries—learning how scientists monitor and protect our marine ecosystems. They explored hatcheries and witnessed the fascinating growth of scallops for aquaculture, seeing firsthand how sustainable food production works.

This is the kind of hands-on, industry-connected learning that prepares our students for careers in marine biology, environmental management, and aquaculture. Big thanks to the Department of Fisheries team for welcoming our students and sharing their expertise!

💪 CERT III FITNESS IN ACTION 💪

Our Cert III Fitness students were back in the gym this week, diving deep into gym programming and communication skills. These are the two pillars that turn a good trainer into a great one.

In these shots, you'll see students learning how to guide clients through strength training exercises, demonstrating proper form, and building confidence in their ability to coach. Whether it's dumbbell rows, plyo box work, or suspension training, our students are getting hands-on experience with the real equipment and real coaching scenarios they'll face in their careers.

🦅 FAUNA SURVEYING WITH MURDOCH UNIVERSITY 🦅

Our Cert IV Animal & Environmental students recently partnered with Murdoch University for an intensive fauna surveying workshop – and it was incredible!

Students got hands-on with capturing, measuring, and data collecting various wildlife species. They learned proper handling techniques, took precise measurements, and recorded critical ecological data. This is real fieldwork – the kind of practical experience that prepares them for careers in wildlife management, environmental science, and conservation.

❤️ ECG INVESTIGATION IN ACTION ❤️

Our Cert IV Nursing students recently became the subjects of their own learning – investigating electrocardiograms (ECGs) with electrodes attached and getting hands-on with cardiac monitoring!

This is real clinical learning. Students explored how ECGs work, what different readings mean, and how to interpret heart rhythms. By experiencing it firsthand, they're building the practical understanding that'll make them confident nurses.

It's this kind of immersive, practical approach that sets HSH students apart – they don't just learn about cardiac care, they live it.

🦎 MEET OUR CLASSROOM VISITORS! 🦎

Our Animal Studies students had an amazing hands-on session with two black-headed monitors this week – and the learning was incredible!

Students explored enrichment strategies, proper handling techniques, and nutrition requirements for these fascinating reptiles. It's one thing to read about animal care in a textbook, but getting up close and personal? That's where real understanding happens.

These interactions help our students develop the practical skills and confidence they'll need in animal care, wildlife management, and veterinary careers. Plus, it's just awesome!

Huge shout-out to the amazing Murdoch University team who recently put our Cert IV Nursing students through an intensive triage activity!

Our students faced some seriously challenging scenarios that demanded critical thinking, clinical knowledge, and real-world problem-solving skills. They had to assess patients, prioritise care, and make decisions under pressure – exactly what they'll be doing in their nursing careers.

Our Cert IV Forensics students are diving deep into facial approximation this week – one of the most fascinating techniques in forensic science!

Using sculpting and anatomical knowledge, students are learning how to reconstruct faces from skeletal remains. It's detective work meets art, and it's absolutely incredible to see them master this hands-on skill.

This is real forensic science in action – the kind of work that helps solve cases and brings closure to families. Our students are getting the practical experience that sets them apart.
