65 Roses Day 🌹
Today at Nido Early School we came together to celebrate 65 Roses Day in support of Cystic Fibrosis, and what a beautiful day it was for our very special girl, Felicity. ❤️
We are so incredibly grateful for the wonderful support from our families and community who purchased roses throughout the morning to help raise awareness and funds for this important cause. Your kindness and generosity mean so much to families living with Cystic Fibrosis, including Felicity’s family who have been part of our Nido Iluka family since 2021.
It was truly heartwarming to see everyone come together to celebrate such a meaningful cause, and we could not have asked for a better turnout🌹

Last night we hosted a wonderful Kinder evening with our Kinder families at Nido Iluka 💛
It was so special coming together to talk all things Kindergarten and share more about our Nido Kindergarten curriculum, and the learning experiences we offer each day through our play-based approach.
We also explored the different options for families, including completing Kindergarten here at Nido or transitioning to a school setting, helping families feel informed and confident in their choices.
Families enjoyed tea and coffee while sampling some of the delicious afternoon tea snacks our children are offered each day, all lovingly prepared by our chef.
Thank you to all the families and staff who joined us🌱

What a fun and engaging Monday was had in Classroom 2 at Nido Early School Iluka! 🚦
During the mat session, the children explored Stop and Go signs created by educators as part of National Road Safety Week. They also looked closely at a traffic light, learning about the different colours and what each one meant when out in the community.
When the children headed into the garden, the excitement continued as they discovered zebra crossings set up on the ground. Taking turns on the bikes, they practiced stopping at the red stop sign, waiting patiently while their friends crossed the “road,” and then continuing on their journey.
It was wonderful to see the children confidently holding up the stop/go signs, guiding their friends and working together to stay safe. 🚲

What an exciting week we’ve had here at Nido Iluka! 🐛🦋
Last week, our butterfly caterpillars arrived, and the children have been so engaged in observing their journey. Throughout the week, we watched our five hungry caterpillars munch away on their leaves, growing bigger each day.
On Friday, we noticed something very special, the caterpillars began crawling up to the top of their enclosure, getting ready to transform into their chrysalises (cocoons). The children were full of wonder as they watched this incredible stage begin.
Today, we walked into the room to find that four of our caterpillars have successfully formed their cocoons, with one little caterpillar still on its journey. We can’t wait to see what happens next as we continue to observe this amazing life cycle together.
Stay tuned for butterflies! 🦋✨

On the 21st of May, Nido Iluka will be hosting an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in honour of Anne, and we would love for our community to come together to support this very special cause. If you are able to, we kindly ask for donations to help support cancer research and those affected by cancer ❤️
At Nido Early School, we are incredibly lucky to have people who bring warmth, kindness, and heart into our service every single day and our wonderful chef Anne is one of those very special people.
Anne has been part of the Nido family for nearly four years, and during that time she has become so much more than our chef. She is a friendly face each morning, a caring presence in our service, and someone deeply loved by our staff, educators, families, and especially our children.
Earlier this year, Anne received the heartbreaking news of a terminal cancer diagnosis that has metastasized throughout her body. The past few months have been incredibly difficult for Anne and for all of us who care for her so deeply. Yet through every challenge, Anne continues to show extraordinary strength, courage, and positivity.
Anne’s impact on our Nido Iluka community is impossible to put into words. She has filled countless little tummies with nutritious meals made with love, shared laughter with educators, and built beautiful connections with children and families over the years. She truly is one of the hearts of our service.
As a community, we want Anne to know just how loved and supported she is. We are standing beside her every step of the way, holding onto hope, strength, and positivity together.
Anne, thank you for being the incredible person you are. Your courage shines so brightly, and we are all so proud to know you ❤️
Please keep Anne and her family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

What a fun way to celebrate International Firefighters’ Day here at Nido Iluka! 🚒🔥
Classroom 2 had an absolute blast putting out “fires” in our mini town using spray and squeeze bottles. Meanwhile, Classroom 4 got busy creating their very own firefighter hats with paper plates and paint before jumping into dress-ups and saving the day.
So much laughter, imagination, and teamwork all around, such a great start to our week! 👩🚒👨🚒

Classroom 2 explored the meaningful Aboriginal Dreamtime story of the Rainbow Serpent 🌈🐍 a powerful story about how the land, rivers, and mountains were created.
Inspired by the story, the children worked together to create their own Rainbow Serpent using recycled cardboard and colourful collage materials. They used glue, patty pans, pop sticks, and dot-inspired designs to bring their artwork to life.
This fun, hands-on activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and fine motor development, while helping children build an early, respectful connection with Aboriginal culture through storytelling and art.
What a wonderful way to learn and create together!

Classroom 4 Excursion!
The children in Classroom 4 enjoyed a mat session where they shared their favourite fruits and vegetables before heading off to our local IGA. Together, they explored the store, chatting about the different foods they could see and the many colours around them.
The children helped collect ingredients to make playdough and proudly carried them to the checkout, where each child had a turn scanning an item, a highlight of the visit! They were also rewarded with a crayon from the kind store manager for being such helpful shoppers.
They all did such an amazing job and had a great time! We were very proud of them
