I’m looking forward to being a guest speaker today at Thornlie Library, presenting a special one hour session for the First Chapters program with the City of Gosnells. My session is part of the “Building Connections” topic. First Chapters is a warm and friendly library program for new parents and carers with little ones aged 0–12 months ❤️

My musical storytelling shows have been delighting children across WA since 2012 ❤️ Oh my! I’m in my 14th year of this wonderfully fulfilling vocation and share my engaging and dynamic incursions focused on literacy, music, dance, drama and the world around us. I love to hear from my amazing regulars and also new clients who are yet to have me out to their classes to experience my stories and songs!

Don’t forget, you can share the joy and the magic in your own musical moments and storytelling adventures. Make the faces, do the voices, talk the stories! 🙏🥰✨

This is lovely little circle time game you can play with your students and a great way for everyone to learn names at the beginning of the year too! All you need is a bell to ring and you’re away!🔔

Note: Apologies for the camera not facing me! I thought I had set it up to look at me and Lo and Behold it was facing the other direction! Hilarous 😆 I ran out of time to rerecord it and wanted to share asap so here it is! I might film it again later and set up a little scene so you can see it in action! Enjoy and please do let me know if uou try it with your students! 💕 Xox

Happy New Year! Half an hour early in Perth but I’ve just finished watching the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks and concert. They ended the coverage with this lovely rendition of Auld Lang Syne by the toys and hosts of the wonderful Play School - celebrating their 60th year in 2026! Wishing you a beautiful journey around the sun over the next 365 days ❤️

Cooooeeeee! Merry Christmas everyone! My last shows of the year are being performed today and then I’m signing off for 2025! What a fantastic year it has been! I’ve had the best time travelling all over Perth and WA to visit many thousands of children in schools, libraries early learning centres and community events.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who has booked me in for incursions, sent though such lovely feedback and engaged with me here on my page. I’m so grateful for the wonderful community I get to be part of in my line of work.

Of course, when you have this much fun every day it doesn’t feel like work at all. I put in a huge amount of effort into making my shows as magical as possible but because I love it so much I always feel like I am the one gaining as much out of this as the children are. Lots of love to you all and I will see you in the new year!

Look for the helpers ❤️‍🩹

When there's a tragedy - when evil is unleashed on the world - people often share the quote ascribed to Fred Rogers that we should "look for the helpers".

If your kids are struggling to comprehend this incomprehensible massacre on our shores, here are some helpers you can point to:

1. The hero who tackled and disarmed one of the gunmen.

Ahmed al-Ahmed, a 43-year-old father of two, was just passing by when he heard the shooting. With no fi****ms or self-defence training, he charged one of the gunmen from behind, wrestled the rifle away, and pointed it back at the attacker - forcing him to retreat.

Ahmed was shot twice in the struggle and is recovering in hospital. Countless people are alive because he didn't hesitate. I find myself in tears just thinking about what he did. Heroism is not a big enough word for me here.

2. The police and ambos who risked their lives and gave all they had to protect and preserve life.

Emergency responders flooded the scene, literally putting themselves in the firing line.

Two police officers were shot while protecting the community and are currently in serious but stable condition after surgery. They ran toward danger while others ran away. I am in awe.

3. The woman who shielded a little girl throughout the shooting.

A father searching desperately for his daughter found a stranger lying on top of her, protecting her with her own body. The woman had been shot but told him: "I've got your daughter, I've been protecting her."

He said to her, "You've saved my daughter's life. I'll be indebted to you for the rest of my life." How do you ever thank a person for that kind of courage? For that level of sacrifice?

4. The everyday people who performed CPR, applied pressure to wounds, and gave first aid.

Footage shows civilians crouched beside victims, performing CPR, stemming bleeding, moving the injured to safety - all while uncertain if the danger had passed. Bystanders rendered aid for 40 minutes to keep victims alive until paramedics could take over.

5. The countless people who have lined up to give blood.

The lines at donation centres snaked around buildings this morning. Lifeblood issued urgent calls for O-negative blood, and Australians showed up. Blood banks are now working to open additional appointments because so many people want to help.

In the face of unspeakable hatred, look at what humanity offers in return: courage, sacrifice, protection, healing, solidarity.

That's what you tell your children. Evil tried to win yesterday. The world can be brutal. But look at all these helpers.

The Littlest Christmas Tree: A Festive Storytime at the Museum Join us and Rebecca Flanagan for a heart-warming storytelling session for young children, celebrating kindness and the magic of Christmas

There’s only a week or two left of the school year here in Australia! I know it’s a very busy time, but let’s remember this as it’s all over far too soon. I would like to say a big thank you to the wonderful teachers who have booked me to perform for their classes as they are kindred spirits who embrace stories, music, movement, wonder and imagination as such a vital part of learning 🙏

I also like to share this at the beginning of the year as something important to always remember when teaching our youngest students in the school… and even the older ones too! Childhood is precious ❤️

As a big kid myself, I have always kept the fun alive throughout adulthood, and especially when teaching. Of course, in my role as a storyteller I get to live in the beautiful imaginations of the children and I know that is a very treasured place to be 🥰
