The Raine Study is a landmark longitudinal study, now 36 years strong, and has followed participants who have returned year after year since 1989-1991. Based in Western Australia, it is now uniquely advancing into a 3rd generation of research - a rare and globally significant achievement. Thanks to the support of the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and Telethon7 Perth we can continue these Generation 3 recruitment and assessments - work that has been underway since February 2024.
As Scientific Director Phillip Melton explains, "Ultimately, this research is about understanding how health develops, how it changes over time, and the factors that shape it. By providing this knowledge, your study helps inform targeted and timely approaches that support better health across the lifespan."
We give thanks to our Generation 2 families and the wider Raine Study community for helping make truly multigenerational research possible. ๐

Two years ago, we began welcoming our Generation 3 families into the followโup, and since then, this cohort has grown into something truly remarkable.
In that time, more than 600 Gen3 children have taken part. From tiny newborns to teens, every visit has added something valuable to our understanding of health across generations. Some families have brought one child, others two or three, and a few have arrived with a whole team of siblings! All contributing to research that will shape the future of health in Western Australia and beyond.
To every Gen3 child, and to every parent who has made the time, packed the bags, organised the car seats, and shown up with patience and enthusiasm, thank you. Your involvement is helping us create knowledge that will support healthier futures for generations to come.
Weโre also incredibly grateful to Telethon7 for their continued support and funding, which makes this work possible.

Calling all dads with daughters aged 12โ25, this event is for you!
Consumer and Community Involvement Program is hosting a Community Conversation event, which aims to help researchers better understand how dads support their daughters through different stages of life.
The insights gathered will contribute to the co-design of a training program for fathers, developed in a format chosen by research participants themselves. The goal is to create a more supportive environment for adolescent girls and reduce the everyday challenges they face due to menstruation.
Experience required of attendees:
To be the father of a daughter aged 12-25.
