🎤 Another great evening at Noranda Toastmasters!
We were privileged to welcome Richard Yap, Area Director N24, to our meeting.

Our theme, “From Intention to Action,” was a great reminder that good intentions only take us so far - it’s taking action that creates real change. And that’s exactly where Toastmasters can help! 💪

We enjoyed some excellent prepared speeches from Patrick, Xuan and Kevin, while the legendary Steve walked away with the Best Table Topics title for the evening! 🏆

But Noranda Toastmasters is about more than simply practising public speaking. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone, building confidence, meeting like-minded people and becoming part of a supportive network where everyone wants to see you succeed. 🙌

So, why not turn those good intentions into action?
We’re looking forward to seeing you next week - ready to take action, build your confidence and improve your public speaking skills at Noranda Toastmasters! 🎤✨

🏆 A Proud Night for Noranda Toastmasters! 🏆

At the District 17 Gala Awards, Noranda Toastmasters was recognised as a President’s Distinguished Club - a significant achievement reflecting the dedication, commitment and teamwork of our entire club.

Congratulations to Dennis Chong, who received the 2025–2026 Northern Division Toastmaster of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication and service.

We also congratulate Liz Fisher, who received the Triple Crown Award for completing three or more educational levels during the Toastmasters year.

These achievements are a wonderful reminder of what is possible when members come together to encourage, support and inspire one another. Congratulations to our entire Noranda Toastmasters community! 🎉

✨ Another fantastic night at Noranda Toastmasters! ✨

This week we were thrilled to welcome two new members, Eran and Manatsanan, to the Noranda family! 🎉 We can't wait to see them grow in confidence and contribute to our amazing club.

Our theme, Scientific Discovery, came to life thanks to Toastmaster Steve, who kept us entertained with fascinating facts and discoveries throughout the evening.

Our newest members jumped straight into meeting roles as Timer and Grammarian—and did an outstanding job! 👏

There was plenty of laughter thanks to Dennis as our Joke Master, while Aish and Ezilma inspired us with two excellent prepared speeches. Luzanne kept everyone engaged (and well fuelled with sweets!) as our Harkmaster.

Table Topics delivered another round of entertaining impromptu speeches. Eran's take on "To save the planet or use deodorant?" had everyone in stiches, but it was Maker who claimed the win with his clever speech, "How Wi-Fi Has Changed My Life." 🏆

Every meeting is a chance to build confidence, sharpen communication skills, and support one another in overcoming the fear of public speaking. If you've ever thought about giving Toastmasters a try, we'd love to welcome you to our next meeting! 💙

Another inspiring evening at Noranda Toastmasters!

Our new President, Ezilma, officially welcomed everyone and set the tone for the year with a powerful thought:
"The question is not if I should do it, but rather who will I become by doing it?"

We're excited to have her leading our club and look forward to an incredible year ahead.

Our Toastmaster for the evening, Maker, chose the theme "Winter". Rather than focusing on the cold, he reminded us that nature uses winter as a season of rest, renewal and preparation. Just as nature grows through stillness, we too can embrace reflection, build resilience through challenges, and emerge stronger for the next season.

A special congratulations to our newest members, Eran and Pam, who both stepped up and embraced the evening's challenges.

Eran took on the role of Timer for the first time and did a fantastic job, while Pam impressed everyone by participating in the Table Topics session and delivered a great impromptu speech. It's wonderful to see new members getting involved so enthusiastically from the very beginning!

Luzanne, our Grammarian, challenged us with the Word of the Day: equanimity—remaining calm, balanced and composed, even in difficult situations.

Our educational session featured Xuan presenting "Concluding Your Speech" from the Better Speaker Series. It was an eye-opening reminder that a memorable ending can be just as important as a strong beginning, leaving us all with valuable tips to take into our own speeches.

The prepared speeches were equally inspiring:
🚗 Alison shared how applying the 80/20 Rule helped her confidently choose a new car—a practical approach many of us can use in everyday decision-making.

🐝 Pieter took us inside the world's best-run organisation—the honey bee colony, showing how teamwork, leadership and purpose combine to create one of nature's greatest success stories.

Kevin kept everyone on their toes as Harkmaster, testing our listening skills throughout the evening and rewarding attentive members with some well-earned favourites.

Congratulations to Luzanne for taking home the Best Table Topics Speaker award with another outstanding impromptu speech!

Every meeting at Noranda Toastmasters is filled with learning, laughter, encouragement and opportunities to grow in confidence and communication. It was another memorable evening, and we left inspired by the many ways our members continue to challenge themselves and support one another.

As we gathered for our final meeting on 30 June 2026, club president Dennis honoured the memory of our beloved member, Gerry Freedman, who passed away earlier this week.

Gerry's warmth, humour, and encouragement will always be remembered.

Toastmaster Paula set an uplifting tone with the theme: **Favourite Books and Movies**, introducing speakers who shared personal insights.

A highlight of the evening was Joke Master Patrick, who had everyone in stitches with his cheeky humour.

Liz delivered her icebreaker speech, charming us as she introduced herself—confusing us with her choice of a red jacket instead of her favourite colour blue!

Steve reminisced about Gerry as a true gentleman and a valued customer, illustrating the positive impact he had on us all.

Table Topic Master Ezilma, dressed as a character from Harry Potter, creatively engaged participants with her imaginative questions.

Dennis received the Best Table Topics Speaker award for his outstanding contribution.

Alisan confidently took on the role of grammarian, introducing the word of the day, “Resilient,” while Luzanne provided a thorough timing report.

Our Hark Master, Pieter, kept us attentive with delightful chocolates as he tested our listening skills.

In a heartfelt moment, Dennis stepped down as club president, passing the baton to the new incoming president, Ezilma.
Paula presented him with a thoughtful gift—a book titled “The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness”—in appreciation of his year of dedicated leadership.

Lastly, we expressed gratitude to our guests, Eran and Pam, and to all our members who contributed to making this a memorable meeting. Here’s to the spirit of growth and camaraderie as we move forward!
