Around the World 🌎 🇮🇩 🇫🇷 🇯🇵 🇦🇱 🇧🇷 🇸🇬

Last we extended on our learning of around the world with a trip to Singapore with Zee.

Singapore meaning “ lion city” is a multicultural city with different ethnics groups. Firstly the children were introduced on this name. How did Singapore get the name of a lion ?
Singa in Malay meaning Lion hence it is called “lion city “
We listened and watched a short video on this Red and white are the national colour of Singapore.

We then moved to recognise about the different cultural of people of Malay , Chinese , Indians showcasing traditional costumes of each cultures.
The Malay has “ Baju kurung” , Chinese with “cheongsam “ and Indians with the “lehenga” we learned that Singapore had a national flower called “ orchids”

We then moved to food which is Singapore favourite pastimes.
We enjoyed speciality like “ hainanese chicken rice and paratha “ both a typical dish of Singapore.
Food speaks a lot in Singapore language where everyone loves to explore different mixed of food. Our menu today of “ hainanese chicken rice and paratha “ speaks of Singapore traditional food.

We also watched as Zee make “ teh tarik “
a local tea which has a unique way of making it.
We talked more about the Merlion a creature of mythical tale in Singapore.
We follow up with activities of making Merlion. We ended today session with a song that Zee said she had learned when she was in school.
It has a catchy tune and we help to sing along with her.

There is so much to learn for such a small country like Singapore.

Wonder where will we travel to next ? 🛫
