At last night's meeting the theme was preparedness and several members prepared to challenge themselves by tackling new roles for the first time. Chantal was our Toastmaster, Locky our SAA and Ruby our Table Topics Evaluator.
We heard two terrific speeches, one from Bronwyn titled 'Just Be Happy' and one from Locky titled 'Parks & Gardens' with Judith taking the honours as our table topics winner for the night.
Our next meeting is on Wed June 10th, where we will also be holding our club officer elections. We encourage members to put their hands up for a role, because in our experience, you always end up getting way more than you give from the experience of being a committee member, through learning about Toastmasters, learning how a club is run and getting to know other club members better. And if you can't be at that meeting but want to put your hand up, send through a nomination for yourself to Kym.
See you all in two weeks!

At last night's meeting a couple of our newer members had a go at new, challenging roles. These include Darren who wowed us as Toastmaster, Paul who did a brilliant job as Table Topics Master, and Lockie who had his first go as Um Err Counter. We were also entertained by a fantastic pathways speech from Wayne about why fixing machines is easier than fixing people.
Bronwyn was our Table Topics winner for the night, also receiving her award for most improved speaker, as voted by club members and announced at our birthday meeting.
All in all, a great night was had by all and we look forward to seeing everyone again in two weeks time.

Last night Swan Toastmasters celebrated an incredible milestone - 35 years as a club.
There were balloons, cake, toasts with actual glasses and an amazing lineup of speakers, including some of the founding members of the club, past presidents and committee members, our Toastmasters district trio and one of our newest members.
We were joined by past members of the club and one in particular, who made the journey from Adelaide to be with us! It was an occasion for celebration - looking back and looking forward to the next 35 years.

Elbows were touching around our table last night, as we scootched up to accommodate a lively big group of Toastmasters, which included three delightful visitors.
The theme for the night was AI, which Table Topics Master Martin examined from what can only be described as a novel perspective. The Table Topics winner for the night was Bill with his equally novel take on Einsteinian versus Artificial Intelligence and people's inability to understand traffic speed signs.
We were treated to an excellent ice-breaker from one of our younger members Josh, who wowed us with a word-perfect speech without any notes at all. We also heard a polished Level 3 pathway speech from Judith on the benefits of learning a second language.
We look forward to seeing our current and past members again in two weeks on Wed 22nd April for our special 35th birthday celebration meeting. And in case you're on the fence about coming, there will be cake.
