The theme of last night’s meeting, as selected by our toastmaster for the night Bill Hewitt, was Be Ready. And on a cold and wet Wednesday night, this room full of brave souls was exactly that.

The meeting included a couple of project speeches, a delightful visitor and a table topics win by Josh.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 9th September - visitors welcome (delightfulness optional, but highly regarded).

The theme of last night's meeting was Frivolity, led by debut Toastmaster Bronwyn. We heard from two project speakers, Gladys and Sandy, and five table topics speakers who told us about some of their more frivolous purchases and pastimes.

Our table topics speakers included N24 Area Director Richard Yap, who not only joined us for the meeting in his official capacity, but joined in the frivolity with a table topics speech on pen pals. A big thank you to Richard for his time last night.

Last night at District 17's Awards Night members celebrated and recognised achievements at club and District level.
Our District 17, one of the smallest in number, and largest geographically, finished with the highest award, Smedley Distinguished, coming in at 11th of 124 districts worldwide.
Congratulations to Swan TM too. We finished the year as a Distinguished Club and received our certificate. A great night catching up with fellow TMs.

At last night's meeting, the theme chosen by Toastmaster Sandy was community. In her opening, she talked about how the best way to learn a new skill (and tolerate the discomfort that comes with getting better at it) is as part of a supportive community where other people are also practicing that skill.

Last night's meeting included three excellent speeches from Janette, Moises and Jack, five excellent table topics answers to questions by Table Topics Master Josh, and Darren as the winner of the table topics.

Our first meeting for the new Toastmasters year was nothing if not efficient, which incidently, was the theme for the night. The meeting was kept on schedule by Locky on his Toastmaster debut, and featured three terrific speeches and six table topics responses, with Darren as the winner. Our brand spanking new President for the year, Janette, also had the pleasure of presenting Brownwyn with the Swan Toastmasters Rising Star award for last year, as voted on by the club members.

We looking forward to seeing all the Swannies again in two weeks on Wed 22nd July.

An action-packed meeting was held at Swannies last night, appropriately themed 'Surprise!'.

The meeting included three terrific speeches, one of which was an ice-breaker from Jane that included a guitar!

Judith awarded medals to both Bronwyn and Chantal for honouring the Toastmasters core values, and the group had a go at guessing the winner of the FIFA World Cup final for the D17 competition.

There were lots of laughs and commeraderie and we look forward to seeing everyone again in two weeks time.

If you are between 18 and 80+ years old, you'll find your place at Swan Toastmasters. For 35 years Swan Toastmasters has welcomed newcomers of all ages who are keen to develop their communication and leadership skills, overcoming lack of confidence and fear of public speaking.
Swan TM is a well established community club based in Midland, with a strong culture of fostering the Toastmasters' values Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence.

Join us as a visitor or prospective member to experience first hand what Toastmasters has to offer.
Each meeting includes opportunities to deliver prepared speeches, speak off the cuff, and give and receive positive and constructive feedback.
A short supper break during the meeting is a great time to chat with members.

At last night's meeting the theme was preparedness and several members prepared to challenge themselves by tackling new roles for the first time. Chantal was our Toastmaster, Locky our SAA and Ruby our Table Topics Evaluator.

We heard two terrific speeches, one from Bronwyn titled 'Just Be Happy' and one from Locky titled 'Parks & Gardens' with Judith taking the honours as our table topics winner for the night.

Our next meeting is on Wed June 10th, where we will also be holding our club officer elections. We encourage members to put their hands up for a role, because in our experience, you always end up getting way more than you give from the experience of being a committee member, through learning about Toastmasters, learning how a club is run and getting to know other club members better. And if you can't be at that meeting but want to put your hand up, send through a nomination for yourself to Kym.
