Our recent Curriculum Expo gave families the opportunity to explore the many learning pathways available to students at Lake Joondalup Baptist College. The Expo is designed to help fill in some of the missing dots when it comes to subject choices and future planning. With each Curriculum department represented, students and families could speak directly with our staff, ask questions and gain a better understanding of what different subjects involve and where they may lead. A number of universities were also represented on the night, adding another dimension to the Expo and giving students the chance to explore further study options and start conversations about life beyond school. It was great to see so many conversations taking place throughout the evening, particularly as students considered their interests, strengths and the choices ahead of them. Thank you to our Curriculum staff, university representatives and all the families who joined us. Events like the Curriculum Expo help our students feel more informed and equipped as they plan their next steps.

Our Secondary Inter House Athletics Carnival was held on Friday, with students making the most of a great day out in the sun and on the oval. There was plenty happening throughout the day, with students competing across a range of running, jumping and throwing events. The costumes were out, House colours were everywhere and there was plenty of support from the sidelines. Thank you to all our students for getting involved and to the staff who helped make the day happen. A great day of competition, House spirit and friendly competition.

Today our Year 10 students took part in an incursion with P.A.R.T.Y. WA (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth).
The session challenged students to think about risk-taking, alcohol, decision-making and the very real consequences that can follow the choices we make. Students also took part in practical activities, learning CPR, what to do at the scene of a car accident, and how to respond as a first responder in an emergency.
As our Year 10s become more independent, experiences like this help equip them with practical knowledge and the confidence to make safer decisions and to know how to help others when it matters.
Thank you to the P.A.R.T.Y. WA team for spending time with our students and equipping them with this vital knowledge.

Last week, we celebrated Languages Week across the College with a range of cultural activities in our Languages classes. Japanese students enjoyed an interactive incursion exploring Undoukai, Japan's traditional Sports Day festival, while French students sampled a selection of delicious French delicacies from a local French café.
Year 11 Japanese students have also been learning about seasonal events and celebrated with a Japanese-style Christmas party, enjoying KFC and karaoke as part of their cultural studies.
We hope students enjoyed these activities and the opportunity to further develop their understanding and appreciation of different languages and cultures.

Supporting Foodbank WA: Our 9th Year of Giving Back
Following our fundraising efforts in support of Foodbank WA, we are proud to share that our College community collected just over 1,000 non-perishable food items and raised $2,000 in donations.
This year marks our ninth consecutive year of supporting Foodbank WA, reflecting our ongoing commitment to kindness, generosity, and service to others.
A special thank you to James House and Cumberland House for leading initiatives including their Market Days and a Mismatched Item Day, which brought our community together in support of a worthy cause.
As Scripture reminds us: "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
We are grateful to our students, staff, and families whose generosity will make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Together, we continue to put our faith into action through service and compassion.

Year 12 Outdoor Ed Stirling Ranges Camp.
This week, the students completed four peaks, explored Albany's historical sites and took on some of the South West's most challenging hikes. Yesterday's 4.30am start saw the group reach the summit of Bluff Knoll just as the sun rose, a memorable way to finish the climb.
Today, the group heads home after a fantastic few days away. Well done to all of the students on a great effort and for embracing every challenge along the way.

What a wonderful journey it has been.
A huge congratulations to our incredible cast, crew, staff and volunteers for bringing The Wizard of Oz to life over four fantastic performances. Their talent, commitment and countless hours of rehearsal shone through in every scene, creating a production that delighted audiences from beginning to end.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support our students. Performing to full audiences made the experience even more special!
To our students, thank you for sharing your gifts so generously. You should be incredibly proud of what you've achieved.

Our LJBC Year 12 Outdoor Ed students have had a big start to their Stirling Ranges camp. Day 1 saw the group take on the climb up Mount Trio before backing it up with two more challenging hikes on Day 2. Students climbed Mount Hassell in the morning before tackling the steep ascent of Mount Talyuberlup in the afternoon. The quickest climb to the summit was an incredible 25 minutes.
The views have been worth every step, but it's been just as good to see students encouraging each other, digging deep and taking on every challenge together. A great couple of days so far, with more adventures still to come.

The School2Stage dance teams celebrated outstanding success at this year's competition, with students' dedication and creativity shining on stage.
An LJBC Year 7 student-created choreography was awarded 1st Place in its respective section, while an LJBC Year 8 student-created choreography achieved an impressive 2nd Place in its respective section.
These results reflect months of hard work, with students giving up countless lunchtimes and spending extra hours rehearsing, fine-tuning their routines, and encouraging one another along the way. Their dedication, creativity and teamwork have been outstanding, and we couldn't be prouder of what they achieved. Congratulations to all the dancers and choreographers on their well-deserved success.
