SpeakEasy is a premium English language training service provider in Perth, Western Australia which specialises in English language programs for speakers from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds. SpeakEasy was founded in January 2012 by Candelle Nestor a Languages and Communications specialist whom has been teaching English since June 2011. Candelle was motivated to create SpeakEasy

from her personal experience in learning and speaking other languages. After learning two second languages Japanese and Portuguese and after teaching English in three different countries, she decided to create an English learning program of her own which makes learning English fun, attainable and practical. Muitos dos meus alunos dizem que eles têm o habito de começar a estudar inglês e logo depois param por falta de tempo. Por isso, eles sempre acham que seria melhor esperar até quando eles tiverem mais tempo. Como eu já estudei japonês e português, entendo esse sentimento. Eu lembro bem dos dias que eu cheguei para as minhas aulas sem fazer meus deveres porque eu não tive tempo e me sentindo muito mal. Depois da aula eu falei pra mim mesma: “essa semana vou estudar pra caramba, 1 hora por dia, sem falta!”. Mas obviamente isso não funcionou. Isso aconteceu por algumas aulas, e eu senti que eu não estava melhorando, e logo depois e decidi parar as aulas até eu ter mais tempo.

O que eu percebi é que esse momento da vida de ‘ter mais tempo’ realmente não existe. Claro, existem períodos da sua vida que são mais conturbados do que outros, e aprender um novo idioma sinceramente não é a prioridade. Mas muitas vezes pessoas falam “quando eu tiver mais tempo” porque eles têm uma imagem de que aprender uma nova língua requer muitas horas de estudo de gramatica, vocabulário, e fazer muitos exercícios. Mas não é necessariamente assim. Aprender uma nova língua só requer contato regular. Ter esse contato por 15 minutos todos os dias, por exemplo, é muito melhor do que 2 horas de vez em quando.

Por isso, hoje eu tento ajudar meus alunos não apenas durante as aulas, mas também a criar hábitos diários de pequenas atividades que envolvam inglês. Com isso, eles podem manter contato com o idioma independentemente do tempo eles têm e podem finalmente ter sucesso no aprendizado da língua! E você, tem 15 minutos do seu dia?
