Engaging Students in the Tourism Industry: A Visit to Boola WA Museum Boola Bardip

We believe the best way to prepare our students for successful careers in the Tourism industry is through hands-on experiences that connect them with industry leaders. Recently, our Diploma of Tourism students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Boola Bardip Museum, where they engaged directly with the dynamic Marketing team from Museums WA.

During the visit, students learned about the vital role that marketing plays in promoting cultural centres like Boola Bardip. The Marketing team shared invaluable insights into how they craft and implement innovative marketing campaigns, attracting diverse audiences to the museum and ensuring that its offerings resonate with the community.

Students had the chance to ask questions, fostering a two-way dialogue that allowed them to explore the intricacies of marketing within the tourism sector. This kind of interaction helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, making the learning experience both relevant and engaging.

These initiatives reflect our commitment to providing industry-relevant education, empowering future tourism leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

Weโ€™re excited to continue creating opportunities that enhance our studentsโ€™ learning journeys and inspire them to make meaningful contributions to the tourism industry. We look forward to providing more engaging activities that showcase the vibrancy of the tourism sector and the incredible potential of our students!

๐Ÿ”ฆ Spotlight on: Johanna Faber, 2021 WA International Student of the Year ๐Ÿ†

Johanna has always been passionate about travelling, so when she came to Australia from Germany in 2017 and fell in love with the country, she decided she wanted a career in travel and tourism.

By studying in a different country, Johanna felt it would offer her the opportunity of experiencing travel and tourism first-hand, taking part in a different culture and learning a new language while completing her course - a Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management at North Metropolitan TAFE.๐ŸŽ“

Studying allowed Johanna to gain confidence in communicating in English while learning the many facets of the industry, and was able to land a job as a travel consultant. While COVID-19 forced the closure of the office, it hasnโ€™t deterred Johanna from working in the industry.

โ€œThe thing I am most proud of is that even though I came into a classroom with local people, as an international I was able to actually keep up and deliver work that my lecturers found very impressive.โ€ Johanna Faber, 2021 WA International Student of the Year ๐ŸŽŠ

If you are an international student achieving outstanding results and impressing your lecturers while undertaking a vocational education and training course in WA, maybe you should be applying for the WA Training Awards?

Applications close on Friday 29 April. ๐Ÿ””
