From day one, their passion, vision, and unwavering dedication shaped LBM into the business it is today. What they’ve built over the years is more than just a company. It’s a community, a culture, and a legacy that will continue long into the future.

Brad & Fleur, thank you for every lesson, every conversation, every laugh, and for the endless support and guidance you’ve given this team along the way. Your impact on all of us has been immeasurable.

While it’s hard to imagine LBM without you both, we couldn’t be happier to see you step into this exciting new season of life — one filled with rest, adventure, and time to enjoy everything you’ve worked so hard for.

Last month we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Southern Hills Christian College for another barista training session, and it was as wonderful as ever.

Southern Hills is a school that truly invests in its students, offering a fantastic range of activities and skill-up programmes. Barista training is just one piece of that puzzle, and we're proud to be a long-standing part of their journey.

After 16 years of growing our business and our wonderful brands, it is time for Brad and I to retire, and so we would like to let you know that we have sold Leaf Bean Machine.

Last weekend we sat in the armchairs in the café for the first time ever and looked towards the heart of the business and said, “Look at what we created!" Looking back and reflecting on where we have come from and where we are now has been filled with laughter and some tears. We are incredibly proud of what we have created with you as our Leaf Bean Machine customers and, of course, our gorgeous team.

Settlement is expected to take place today, and we are thrilled to announce that another West Australian couple, Shaun and Emily Tonkinson, will be taking over all operations and who share the same passion for quality coffee and community as we do.

What does this mean for you?

*Stability – The team you know and love will be here to keep spoiling you, and Shaun and Emily are committed to keeping the business running as the well loved family business that it is.

*Same Quality – We are pleased to have remained a family owned business with owners who have the same high standards as us.

We have been receiving lovely messages from people all over the world, which is so thoughtful and makes us realise how many people our coffee has touched.

From the bottom of our hearts, Brad and I thank you for all of your support over the last 16 years. The new owners are excited to get to know you over the coming weeks, but feel free to reach out to us or them if you have any questions. We will be handing over until the end of May and hope that you will pop in for a coffee before then.”

Farewell to Our Café Manager, Kahlia 💙

It's bittersweet to say goodbye to someone who's brought so much to our team.

Kahlia's passion for coffee and community has been infectious from day one. She brought fresh energy, new perspectives, and a thoughtful approach that elevated everything we do. Whether it was quietly organising behind the scenes, supporting the team, or sharing her vision for what specialty coffee could be — she made us better.

Her care for the people around her, her attention to detail, and her genuine love for this industry have left a lasting mark on Leaf Bean Machine.

We're sad to see her go, but we know she'll be exceptional wherever her next chapter takes her. Kahlia, thank you for everything you've given us. You'll always be part of the LBM family.

We also hosted our very first filter brewing competition – The Karvan Cup. What an incredible night! We're so grateful for this journey and to everyone who made it happen. Watching passionate brewers bring our coffee to life reminded us why we love what we do.
