We’ve been enjoying many meaningful experiences throughout Reconciliation Week. As part of our ongoing journey to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, the children have been showcasing their Auslan skills through the Wanjoo (Welcome) song, learning Noongar words, and creating beautiful coasters using Aboriginal symbols to tell their own stories.
Such a wonderful week of learning, connection, and creativity. 🌿

We’re proud to be creating opportunities for children to connect with culture, deepen understanding and celebrate the importance of reconciliation together.

🖤💛❤️ Welcome to National Reconciliation Week ❤️💛🖤

This week across our centres, we’re proud to acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week, a meaningful time to learn, reflect and strengthen our connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.

Throughout the week, our children and educators will be engaging in thoughtful learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and foster respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures. From storytelling and creative experiences to music & dance, language and shared conversations, we’re excited to create opportunities for meaningful learning and connection together.

We can’t wait to share what’s planned across our centres this week and celebrate these important moments with our community.

✨ Watch this space as we showcase the wonderful learning experiences taking place throughout the week!

🔥 Our Fire Bucket 🔥

Emergency evacuation procedures are practices we believe all staff should be familiar with in the event of a fire within the service. Keeping up to date with emergency procedures helps us maintain a safe environment for everyone in our care.

Our fire bucket is used during fire drills to help staff practise emergency evacuation procedures. The staff member who “discovers” the fire follows the correct steps to ensure all children, families, staff, and visitors can be evacuated safely, calmly, and without injury.

Regular practice helps build staff confidence and ensures we are prepared to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation.

🚦 Road Safety Week 🚦

This week we explored the importance of road safety through a variety of hands-on experiences, discussions, and play-based learning opportunities.

The children engaged in activities focused on recognising traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, road signs, and safe ways to travel within our community. Through role play, stories, songs, and outdoor games, the children developed an understanding of how to stay safe near roads and why it is important to follow road safety rules.

These experiences encouraged children to build confidence, awareness, and responsibility while learning valuable life skills in a fun and engaging way. 🚗🛴🚸

🐝 World Bee Day 🐝

This week across the centre children explored the wonderful world of bees through a range of hands-on experiences and discussions. The children enjoyed investigating sensory trays, painting, creating pinecone bees, and listening to stories all about these amazing little pollinators.

Together, we discussed the important role bees play in our environment and how they help flowers, plants, and food grow. It has been a beautiful week of creativity, curiosity, and learning as the children discovered why bees are so important to our world. 🌼🍯🐝
