Today, we celebrate the birthday of Dr Maria Montessori — a visionary whose profound belief in the potential of every child continues to inspire generations around the world.

She saw the child not as someone to be shaped, but as someone to be respected, understood and gently guided. Her vision gave children the freedom to explore, the confidence to discover, and the opportunity to become who they are meant to be.

📚✨ A week of stories. A lifetime of possibilities. ✨
What an EPIC Book Week it has been across all three Southbank Montessori centres! ❤️📖

This week, we celebrated so much more than books. We celebrated curiosity, imagination, language, creativity and the incredible minds of our children. 🌱✨

Through stories and shared experiences, our children discovered that books can open doors to new worlds, spark questions, inspire ideas and help us make sense of the world around us. 🌏💭

Because at Southbank Montessori, we believe imagination is where learning begins. 🦋

At our Southbank Basinghall Toddler Centre, our youngest learners — children under three — experienced Book Week in a wonderfully hands-on and practical way. 📚✨ Book Week Special Reading with Author Chemutai

We are so grateful to have welcomed back author Chemutai for a very special Book Week story time at Southbank Montessori Berwick. 🤍

Chemutai first joined our community at the beginning of the year for our library opening, collaborating with us to encourage our children’s love of books and reading. Yesterday, she returned with even more storytelling magic to celebrate Book Week with us!

The children were so excited — listening closely, asking questions, sharing their thoughts and engaging beautifully throughout the story.

At Southbank Montessori, we believe learning becomes even more meaningful when children can connect their experiences with the real world and the wider community.

🐠✨ Book Week — Day Two! ✨📚

Today, we dove beneath the waves with The Rainbow Fish! 🌈🐟

Our teacher Mario brought this much-loved story to life through storytelling, props and hands-on experiences that invited the children to become part of the story, not simply listen to it.

From exploring the colourful world of Rainbow Fish to conversations about sharing, kindness, friendship and belonging, the story continued well beyond the pages of the book. 💙

At Southbank Montessori, Book Week is about showing children that stories can be heard, felt, explored and experienced — because some of the most meaningful literacy learning happens when a story comes alive. ✨📖
