Meet Eleesha, our dedicated Lead Educator of Classroom 4. Eleesha brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to her role, creating a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child feels safe, supported, and valued. ✨

With extensive experience within early childhood education, alongside the invaluable perspective of being a mother herself, Eleesha has a deep understanding of the importance of building strong relationships with children and families. Her caring and calm approach allows children to develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging within the classroom environment.

Eleesha is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences that are guided by the children’s interests, strengths, and individual developmental needs. At Nido Butler, the children thoroughly enjoy caring for and exploring our worm farm as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental education. 🌱

Through this hands on experience, the children are developing an understanding of the important role worms play within our ecosystem, including composting, recycling food scraps, and supporting healthy plant growth. Engaging with the worm farm encourages curiosity, responsibility, and respect for the natural environment while fostering meaningful conversations around sustainable practices and caring for living things.

The children take great pride in observing the worms closely, feeding them, and contributing to the maintenance of our garden in a purposeful and engaging way.

Today, a sunflower inspired provocation was set up in our piazza space to support calm and meaningful transitions before and after mealtime rituals. Building on our ongoing sunflower project, the children explored a range of loose parts and natural materials through quiet, purposeful play.
The experience encouraged creativity, collaboration, and sensory exploration while supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging as children transitioned confidently between daily routines.

This week, our Classroom 5 children enjoyed an excursion to our local park as part of our ongoing commitment to extending learning beyond the classroom environment. The excursion provided opportunities for the children to explore and investigate their local community while engaging in meaningful real world learning experiences.

Throughout the walk to the park, the children actively participated in discussions surrounding road safety and community awareness. They demonstrated growing confidence in identifying potential hazards, safely crossing roads, remaining aware of their surroundings, and following educator guidance. These experiences support children in developing a strong sense of responsibility, independence, and safe decision making skills within their wider community.

At the park, the children engaged in a variety of physical experiences that encouraged active risk-taking, problem solving, and resilience. Through climbing, balancing, running, and navigating different play equipment, the children were able to challenge themselves physically while building confidence in their own abilities. These experiences play an important role in supporting the development of gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and spatial awareness.

The excursion also fostered collaboration and social connections as the children worked together, encouraged one another, and engaged in cooperative play experiences. It was wonderful to see the children demonstrating curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm as they explored the natural environment and embraced new challenges. 🌿

At Nido Butler, we are passionate about integrating natural play materials into children’s learning experiences.

Here, our Kindy children are utilising a variety of loose natural materials to support the development of their early numeracy skills through hands on counting experiences. By exploring and manipulating natural resources, the children are building confidence with number recognition, one to one correspondence, and problem solving in a meaningful and engaging way.

Using natural materials within play based learning encourages creativity, curiosity, and deeper connections with the environment while supporting important foundational mathematical concepts.

At Nido Butler we continued to extend upon our growing sunflower interest by planting our very own sunflowers in the garden. 🌻

This hands on experience will allow the children to further explore and learn about the lifecycle of plants as they nurture and observe their sunflowers grow over time. The children were excited to get their hands dirty, work together, and care for our garden while developing a deeper connection with nature. We can’t wait to watch our sunflowers bloom! ☀️

At Nido Early School Butler, our Classroom 5 children recently visited our local park as part of extending upon their current physical health and wellbeing project.

The excursion provided meaningful opportunities for the children to actively explore movement, coordination and teamwork through a range of group games using balls, hoops and frisbees. The children demonstrated fantastic collaboration skills as they worked in partnership with one another, encouraged their peers and explored different ways to move their bodies safely and confidently.

Experiences such as these support children to develop not only their gross motor and physical skills, but also important social and emotional skills including communication, cooperation and resilience. We loved seeing the children’s excitement, confidence and sense of belonging as they engaged with their community environment and embraced active outdoor play together. 🌿

At Nido Butler, we actively involve children in learning about health and safety through meaningful and engaging experiences.
As part of our Safety Warrior program, the children were invited to participate in a secondary yard check.

To make the experience interactive and engaging, we explained that a toy snake had been hidden in the garden and needed to be safely located. The children were quick and efficient in working together to find the snake, demonstrating teamwork, observation skills, and confidence in their environment.

Following the experience, we gathered together to discuss what we should do if we ever found a real snake in the garden. This provided an important opportunity to build children’s awareness of safety procedures, encourage critical thinking, and support their understanding of how to respond calmly and safely in potentially risky situations. 🌿
