St Pius X Catholic Primary School

St Pius X Catholic Primary School We strive to develop each child’s full potential by recognising their individual giftedness as part of God’s creation.

St Pius X Catholic School caters for girls and boys from 3 Year Old Kindergarten through to Year 6, in a unique environment which offers opportunities for each child to develop emotionally, spiritually, socially, physically and cognitively. This is achieved by providing and coordinating educational activities through a whole school approach that develops an awareness and understanding of concepts

necessary for life and educational experience within the Catholic faith. Learning is facilitated through a developmental approach that promotes cooperative and inquiry based learning, which are strengthened by the use of up to date technology. We provide a relevant, comprehensive and varied curriculum to suit a wide range of student needs, interests and abilities. All of these processes can only assist each child, to be the best that they can be. At St Pius X, we believe that each child is a precious gift from God, created as an individual with special gifts, talents and abilities. We encourage parents to enter into partnership with the school and pray that together we will support the children to grow and develop into the people Jesus intended them to be. We are very proud of the harmonious relationship shared by our diverse cultures and celebrate our Gospel values through "Faith and Friendship". St Pius X is a strong community that works together as one with parents, students, teachers and the parish to foster an environment that can enable us all to reach our fullest potential.

The PPs have been busy this Term! In maths they have been writing out numbers from 1-30 and using their wonderful skills and also created their own board games! Once completed they challenged their buddies to a game - some wins and some losses!

In Measurement & Geometry the Year 2 students have been revisiting what 2D shapes look like when they flip, slide and turn them. This week they began focusing on quarter, half or full turns of a shape or object. Students made connections to real world objects that turn or rotate, and learnt what quarter, half, three quarter and full turns actually look like on a flat surface.

✨ Friendship is... Forgiveness! ✨

In every friendship, mistakes happen. As students at URSTRONG Schools learn, no friendship or relationship is perfect (Friendship Fact #1). What matters most is learning how to Forgive & Forget by working our way around the Friend-o-Cycle so we can move forward, stronger together.

That’s why in our Friendology friendship skills curriculum, students practice these skills, understanding feelings, saying sorry, and choosing kindness. When kids learn how to forgive, they not only repair friendships, they also build resilience and empathy that last a lifetime.

Our school community came together on Tuesday to celebrate our Feast Day with a beautiful liturgy. It was a wonderful opportunity to pause, pray, and give thanks for the many blessings we share. Moments like these remind us of the strength of our faith and the joy of belonging to the St Pius X family.

Last week, our Kindy students learned about our school’s patron, St Pius X, as we celebrated his Feast Day. Through colouring and classroom discussions, the children discovered that St Pius X was a kind and humble man who cared deeply for those in need. He also recognised the importance of children receiving the Eucharist and encouraged all parishioners to take part in this special sacrament.

What a wonderful way for our youngest learners to grow in faith and learn about the values that inspire our school community.

Our Pre-Primary classroom has been transformed into an exciting Under the Sea learning environment, sparking wonder, curiosity, and lots of rich discussion!

Using Trevor MacKenzie’s Pencil Theory and a KWL (What we Know, Want to know, and will Learn) approach, our young learners began by exploring what they already know about the ocean and what they are eager to discover. During their "campfire" conversations, the children examined ocean images, shared their observations, made connections, and asked thoughtful questions.

Together, they created a word wall full of ocean vocabulary and sea creatures, celebrating the incredible knowledge and ideas already swimming around in their classroom!

The excitement is only just beginning. Next week, they will start creating their investigation floor book, where the children's questions, discoveries, and learning will continue to guide their inquiry. We can't wait to see where their curiosity takes us!
