This term at First Steps PreKindy, our Community Helpers focus is giving our children so many wonderful opportunities to discover more about the world around them. 💜

Through stories, conversations, creative experiences and imaginative role play, we’re learning about the many different people who help our community every day — from firefighters, police and health professionals to teachers, postal workers, farmers and many more.

At First Steps, we believe children learn best when experiences are meaningful, engaging and connected to their world.

Our small-group environment gives children opportunities to ask questions, build friendships, develop independence and explore their interests while being supported by caring and experienced educators.

🌱 Is your little one turning THREE 2027? 🌱

We’d love to welcome them to First Steps PreKindy! 💜

In 2027, our Monday, Wednesday & Friday program will be dedicated to our younger PreKindy children — providing a nurturing, play-based program specifically designed around their developmental, emotional and social needs.

And they don’t need to wait until their third birthday to begin! ✨

Children are welcome to start before they turn three, provided they will be turning 3 during 2027 - not just for those heading to Kindy in 2028!

We know that learning looks different for all children and our focus is on giving children the time, space and support to:

🌿 Build confidence being away from their family
🤝 Begin forming friendships and learning alongside others
💜 Develop a strong sense of belonging and security
🗣️ Grow their language and communication skills
🎨 Explore through sensory, creative and hands-on play
🌱 Develop independence through everyday routines
😊 Learn to recognise and navigate their emotions
✨ Discover, investigate and simply enjoy being little!

Our Monday, Wednesday & Friday program gives children the opportunity to learn and grow alongside children at a similar developmental stage, with experiences intentionally planned to meet them where they are.

There’s no rush to be “school ready”.

This stage is about building the foundations — confidence, relationships, curiosity, independence and a genuine love of learning. 💜

We have something exciting coming toFirst Steps PreKindy in 2027!💜

Our new Kindy Readiness Program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be exclusively for children who are preparing to start Kindy in 2028.

Having a dedicated group means we can thoughtfully tailor the program to this important stage of development — giving children a full year to build their confidence, independence, friendships and love of learning before making the transition to school.

Through meaningful, play-based experiences, we’ll support children to:

💜 Build confidence and independence
🤝 Develop friendships, cooperation and social skills
📚 Strengthen early literacy, numeracy and communication
🎨 Explore, create, problem-solve and discover
🌱 Develop emotional regulation, resilience and wellbeing
🎒 Become familiar with routines and expectations that help prepare them for Kindy

And while we absolutely value school readiness, our program will still be what early childhood learning should be — fun, nurturing, hands-on and filled with opportunities to PLAY.🌿

🌿 Learning About the People Who Help Our Community🌿

This term at First Steps PreKindy, our children are exploring Community Helpers— discovering the many people who help make our community a safe, healthy, caring and wonderful place to live. 💜

From firefighters, police and paramedics to teachers, farmers, health professionals, veterinarians and many more, there is so much for our little learners to discover!

Through stories, role play, creative experiences, hands-on activities and opportunities to connect learning with the world around them, children will be developing:

🚒 An understanding of our community and the people within it
🤝 Respect, kindness and appreciation for others
🗣️ Language, communication and confidence
🎭 Imagination through role play
🌱 A growing sense of belonging and connection
💡 Curiosity about the world around them

🖤💛❤️ Celebrating NAIDOC Week at First Steps PreKindy*❤️💛🖤

This week at First Steps PreKindy, we are proudly celebrating NAIDOC Week by learning about and recognising the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Each morning, we always come together for our Acknowledgement of Country, helping children develop an understanding of respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we play, learn and grow.

At First Steps PreKindy, we believe that even our youngest learners can begin to appreciate the importance of caring for one another, caring for Country and celebrating the many cultures that make Australia so special.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful week of learning with our children and families.
