Alhamdulillah, some of our staff attended the 9th Australian Islamic Schooling Conference (AAISC9), hosted by at Adelaide University on the 15th and 16th of August. They returned with much to reflect on, share, and bring back into our school community.

This year’s conference theme, “Tarbiyah of the Educator: The Inward Turn Toward Outward Impact,” reminded us that meaningful change in education begins with the educator. Before we can nurture character, faith, excellence and a love of learning in our students, we must continue to reflect on our own intentions, practice and growth.

Our Principal, Sr Joanna, was also honoured to contribute to the conference as part of the practitioner panel, sharing reflections on educator formation, leadership and the ways in which our own inward growth can shape the impact we have on others, Allahumma Baarik.

For Al-Hidayah Islamic School, attending AAISC9 is about much more than professional learning. It is an investment in our ongoing journey to strengthen Islamic Pedagogy and ensure that our approach to teaching and learning is deeply grounded in our Islamic worldview.

Our staff returned inspired, challenged and renewed — with new questions to explore, ideas to share and, most importantly, a stronger commitment to ensuring that what we learn translates into meaningful impact for our students.

Over the coming weeks, our AAISC9 attendees will share their reflections with colleagues as we continue this inward turn together, bi’ithnillah.

May Allah ď·» grant us sincerity in our intentions, wisdom in our practice, and barakah in our efforts to nurture the next generation, Ameen.

📚 BOOK WEEK 2026 IS COMING TO AL-HIDAYAH! 📚

From Monday, 24 August, our students will be diving into a celebration of books, reading and discovery as part of Book Week 2026.

✨ IBC Islamic Book Fair ( )
đź“… Monday 24 & Tuesday 25 August
A wonderful opportunity for students and parents to explore and purchase a range of Islamic books and items.

🌟 Principal’s Reading Challenge – Little Readers League
For Kindergarten to Year 1, students will read, share and listen to books as they work together towards their class reading goal.

Every book we read, share or listen to helps us grow as readers!

🏆 Principal’s Reading Challenge – Book Battle 2026
For Years 2–6, classes will take on a three-week reading challenge, working towards age-appropriate reading targets.

The Book Battle may be a competition between classes, but the real challenge is for every student to read more, discover new books and grow in their enjoyment of reading.

📖 Read at school. Read at home. Explore something new. And most importantly — enjoy the journey through books!

We can’t wait to see our students rise to the challenge, Insha’Allah!

The Pre-Primary's had a wonderful visit from the lovely dentist Sr. Laylaa Haouchar!

They read the book "Dr. Rabbit Meets a Brushalotamus" where a fun-loving animal who loves to brush his teeth meet some helpful neighborhood children and altogether learn about the importance of caring for their teeth.

The students had a go at flossing their own set of giant teeth and together with their classmates, brushed away some tooth decay as well 🦷

A big thank you to Sr. Laylaa for visiting our school and teaching our kids about dental health!

On Friday, we were honoured to welcome Sr Alisha from MATW Project for a special assembly with our students.

Sr Alisha shared heartfelt words of appreciation and encouragement with our school community, acknowledging the incredible efforts of our students, staff and families in raising funds through our School Fete for the MATW Orphanage project. She also reminded our students of a powerful lesson: you are never too young to give, to care, and to help others.

Alhamdulillah, through the generosity and support of our community, we were able to reach our fundraising target of $15,000. This is a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved when we come together with sincerity, compassion and a shared purpose.

Allah SWT reminds us in the Qur’an:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain that grows seven ears; in every ear there are a hundred grains.”
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261

During the assembly, Sr Alisha also presented Al-Hidayah Islamic School with a special certificate of appreciation, which we are grateful to receive on behalf of our whole school community.

May Allah SWT accept these efforts from everyone involved, place barakah in the funds raised, and allow it to be a means of ongoing sadaqah and benefit for children in need.

Jazakumullahu khayran to all our families, students and staff for your generous support.

Alhamdulillah, today our students participated in a wonderful Market Day event, showcasing their creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills.

Over the past week, students have been busy planning, designing, making, pricing and preparing their items for sale. While Market Day was full of excitement and fun, it was also a meaningful learning experience. Students practised important skills such as budgeting, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, marketing, customer service and responsible decision-making.

This event was closely connected to our Design and Technologies curriculum, giving students the opportunity to move through the process of planning, creating, testing, selling, and evaluating a product for a real audience.

At Al-Hidayah, learning is not only about completing tasks or producing a final product. Through our Islamic pedagogy, we aim to nurture the whole child by connecting knowledge with character, purpose and responsibility. Market Day gave students a practical opportunity to develop honesty, fairness, patience, teamwork, service, gratitude and care for others through real-life interactions.

It was also beautiful to see students thinking carefully about how they may use their profits, whether towards classroom resources, a shared educational experience, or a donation to charity.

Jazakumullahu khayran to our students for their hard work, to our teaching staff for guiding them through the learning process, to our parent volunteers for contributing their time to help, to our admin staff for their support, and to our families for encouraging and supporting the event.

May Allah SWT place barakah in the learning, effort and intentions of our students.

🌱 Growing hearts through service 🤲

Abu Hurayrah (RA) narrated that the Prophet ď·ş said:

"Whoever relieves a believer of a worldly hardship, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever alleviates the difficulty of a person in need, Allah will alleviate his difficulties in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah continues to aid His servant so long as he aids his brother." (Hadith An-Nawawi, Hadith 40)

🤝As part of our school community engagement project and our commitment to developing the Contributor asset in our learners, our Student Councilors had the privilege of delivering donations generously contributed by our school community to Sisters Hand in Hand.

đź’›During our visit, Sister Koraan shared valuable insights into the needs within our local community and the wide range of support services provided by the Centre. She also discussed meaningful opportunities for future collaboration, inspiring our students to continue serving others with compassion, generosity, and purpose.

🌟Insha'Allah, this will mark the beginning of an ongoing partnership that nurtures service leadership and strengthens our learners' commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

🤲Jazakum Allahu khayran to our wonderful school community for your generous contributions, and to the team at Sisters Hand in Hand for your warm welcome and meaningful collaboration.

May Allah ď·» accept from us all, bless these efforts, and make them a source of ongoing benefit for our community. Ameen.

This year's School Fete was one of the most well-attended fetes in our school's history, with a wonderful turnout from current families, community members, ex-students, past staff, and friends of the school.

There was a beautiful sense of community spirit throughout the day, and so much barakah in every aspect of the event.

A sincere thank you to all staff, volunteers, stallholders, families and attendees who helped make the day such a memorable success. May Allah SWT reward all those who contributed and place continued barakah in our school and community.
