JDK Martial Arts Australia

JDK Martial Arts Australia Joong Do Kwan (JDK) Martial Arts Australia is home to Colin Wee’s reflections on martial art tradition, transformation, and his seeking of tactical clarity.

Explore our practice. Discover the book(s). Rethink what martial arts can be. Joong Do Kwan is more than a martial arts school—it’s a space for inquiry, discipline, and transformation. Founded on the belief that traditional training can thrive in a progressive environment, JDK brings together practitioners who seek clarity in movement, logic in application, and depth in personal growth. Our philos

ophy is captured in Breaking Through: The Secrets of Bassai Dai Kata, an award-winning book that documents four years of focused kata study. It explores how structure, mechanics, and tactical reasoning can unlock the combative potential of traditional forms—especially when facing non-compliant opponents and dynamic situations. At JDK, students engage with both the physical and intellectual dimensions of martial arts. Training is rigorous, but the community is supportive. We challenge assumptions, refine technique, and encourage each student to bring their full self to the practice. Whether you’re a seasoned martial artist or just starting out, Joong Do Kwan invites you to explore the kwan, rethink tradition, and discover what martial arts can become when you train with purpose.
