Kumon Canning Vale Education Centre

Kumon Canning Vale Education Centre Build your child’s confidence in maths and reading. Our personalised support goes beyond tutoring, strengthening skills, focus and independent learning.

How children learn and grow has a direct effect on their future. And the prospect of a bright future is largely determined by their ability to learn. To that end, a child's mind is a wonderful, curious thing. Too little stimulus and they get bored. Too much and they can become distracted. But no two children are the same in this regard. This is perfectly demonstrated when it comes to learning subj

ects like mathematics and English. Your child might grasp some concepts quickly, yet struggle with others. The child sitting next to them might easily find the reverse happens. So it is very much a case of "each to their own", and it is this individuality that gave rise to the Kumon Method of study over 50 years ago

Less study, more often. One of the ways Kumon helps children develop a good study routine is to limit each homework session to half an hour or less, but encourage this to be a daily activity. When you consider how quickly a child can lose 30 minutes watching television or playing on the computer, we've found this amount of time each day can provide real progress, without becoming a chore. Twice each week your child will do their Kumon exercises at the Kumon Education Centre, where one of our qualified instructors will make sure he or she is feeling positive about what they are learning and is progressing well. Who chooses Kumon? Just as there is no such things as a typical 'Kumon Child', nor is there such a things as a typical 'Kumon parent'. There are many different reasons you might consider Kumon for your child, and in most instances we believe we can make a difference. Perhaps you've noticed your child slipping behind at school. Perhaps they have trouble sometimes with concentration or you want to help build their confidence and self-esteem. Or, like some parents, you might want to build on a strength or aptitude your child has already developed. These are all proven and achievable outcomes of the Kumon programme. Quick fix or long-term goal? Scholastic pressures can lead some parents to look for instant results or quick fixes for immediate issues. This is not, however, how Kumon approaches learning. A child that has fallen behind or needs mastery of a subject for an upcoming exam is liely to have missed key areas of learning and the Kumon approach is to address these as part of a longer-term learning process, rather than a one-off piece of tuition. Similarly , the Kumon programme is not designed to show instant results in the first few weeks of study, but rather to build long-term study habits that lead to effective mastery of mathematics and English. After 12 months, many Kumon students are discovering the rewards of self-learning by studying materials beyond their grade level.

Did you know that Kumon was inspired by a father’s love for his child? Toru Kumon, a high school maths teacher, saw his son was struggling with maths. He handwrote worksheets for his son to study up for a half an hour each day. Soon his son progressed beyond school grade level and could solve calculus equations by the end of primary school 👏.

Thank you, Kumon fathers, for your support in your child’s worksheet study ❤️.
