We had the pleasure of Sensei Jess teaching at our dojo earlier this year. This article shines a spotlight on the endurance, humility, and inner resolve that define Sensei Jess’ journey. Whether you train or simply admire discipline, it’s a beautiful reminder that real strength is often calm and unassuming—rooted in character as much as in technique. 💪

It’s not every day you get to share something this special.

We had the honour of interviewing Sensei Jess Geyer – a quiet force in JKA karate whose journey bridges continents, generations, and the legacy of a family that helped shape what we know today. In this photo, she wears her grandfather’s belt – Sensei Stan Schmidt’s – a symbol of everything passed down through sweat, time, and discipline.

The full interview is now live. It’s honest, reflective, and full of the kind of depth you don’t often find. We’re proud to share it.

(And yes… that shirt she’s wearing carries his words too.)

What an unforgettable weekend with JKA - SKC Australasia!

We’re still buzzing after an incredible few days at the JKA-SKC Australasia Seminar in Melbourne!

It was an absolute honour to train under three world-class instructors — Ogura Shihan, Okuma Shihan, and Kurihara Sensei.
Their precision, power, and passion left us in awe!

A huge thank you to our Chief Instructor, Shihan Keith Geyer, for bringing this event together. Your dedication and leadership continues to inspire us.

Sensei Rob Sachs' dedication to karate and his kindness had a profound impact on me. I feel truly privileged to have trained and learned from him in so many ways. An irreplaceable gem in our karate community, he will be missed dearly. My thoughts are with Ruth, Jono, Michael, and the entire dojo family. Sensei Rob will never be forgotten and will always be missed.

Huge thanks to Chris Sensei for making time to teaching us in the park this morning! Your leadership brought a touch of Melbourne back to us, and your dedication was inspiring to everyone. You kept us engaged, and we’re excited to keep improving and enjoying karate.

Also, congratulations to Damian on his performance this weekend! Your experience and passion for karate were clear for all to see. Thank you for representing our dojo with such class and for sharing your love of karate with us.
