Stan Schmidt Shihan Memorial Training 2025 Our JKA-SKC Honbu dojo training to honour our beloved Stan Schmidt Shihan.

We had the pleasure of Sensei Jess teaching at our dojo earlier this year. This article shines a spotlight on the endurance, humility, and inner resolve that define Sensei Jess’ journey. We had the honour of interviewing Sensei Jess Geyer – a quiet force in JKA karate whose journey bridges continents, generations, and the legacy of a family that helped shape what we know today. In this photo, she wears her grandfather’s belt – Sensei Stan Schmidt’s – a symbol of everything passed down through sweat, time, and discipline.

We’re still buzzing after an incredible few days at the JKA-SKC Australasia Seminar in Melbourne!

It was an absolute honour to train under three world-class instructors — Ogura Shihan, Okuma Shihan, and Kurihara Sensei.
Their precision, power, and passion left us in awe!
