Term 3 intake now open! Give your child the ✨gift✨ of confidence. Confidence in understanding their mental health and inner workings...Confidence in taking proactive measures to help them in times of stress or overwhelm....Confidence to see their struggles with anxiety do NOT define them. This course is a culmination of 15+ years in education combined with 7 years leadership in children's wellbeing. I truly do not believe there is anything else out there like this course. Your child will be exposed to a level of content (that even most ADULTS would take years of therapy, meditation and self discovery to acquire) explicitly taught in a tutoring-style small group, to empower them to overcome their anxiety. Let me nurture their sensitivity while helping them learn, practice and master the tools to navigate tricky emotions.

This is exactly what I love teaching both kids and adults. The way we RESPOND to anxiety (internal self-talk and the well-meaning comments from those trying to support us) is actually more likely to cause anxiety to spiral out of control, than the initial anxiety-inducing “thing” or sensation.
When we learn to lean into acknowledgment and acceptance, only then can we actually implement appropriate calming tools and strategies effectively.
Learn these techniques in our SOAR Kids: Navigating Anxiety with Confidence course commencing Term 2. Message now to secure a limited space for your child in the program that just way change their life!

If everyone knew the power of such a simple practice, I believe they would start paying serious attention to bringing gratitude into both their own, and their children’s lives.
Gratitude literally rewires the brain and activates our “pleasure centres”. The more we purposefully name/write/say what we’re grateful for, the more we NOTICE the abundance of wonderful things in our world.
This can be a hard habit to form, after all, our brains are wired to look for negatives as a form of protection from potential threats. However, with the right knowledge and tools, it is possible to both BUILD new pathways of gratitude in the brain, and PRUNE the pathways that are no longer frequently used (the automatic negative thoughts we are prone to!)

It’s a scientific fact that children differ in their innate sensitivity. 80% of children are what W. Thomas Boyce refers to as “dandelions”. Hardy, resilient and able to thrive in almost any environment. However, a sub group of about 20% of children are shown to fall into another category which Boyce calls “orchids”. These children show greater sensitivity to the world around them and may be more affected by things such as changes in routine, conflict in the home/parental separation, unexpected events, loud noises or crowds, friendship conflicts etc.
This is a result of genetics and these children can’t “change” their level of sensitivity to the world. They can, however, be nurtured in the right way and in environments that allow them to overcome their sensitivities and thrive. Statistically, orchid children have either the WORST or BEST behavioural, mental health and overall health outcomes depending on the type of environment they are raised in…
At Soar, we know that the highly sensitive child (or orchid child) needs nurturing to help them bloom. Instead of allowing them to wither (as an orchid who’s needs are not met), we aim to equip them with tools and strategies to understand and manage the difficulties of being highly sensitive, while celebrating their unique qualities that actually make them a VERY important part of our world. When children learn they are not “weird” or “different” because they sometimes struggle with anxiety or intense emotions, they can stop trying to be someone else and embrace the beautiful individual they are! While building an understanding about how the brain works and what goes on in the body when we experience emotions, the children also learn simple “hacks” or tools for coping with anxiety when it hits. Instead of allowing anxiety to rule their world, they can move into new situations and contexts with the confidence in knowing they can navigate whatever feelings arise… with confidence!

Signs of anxiety in children can appear in subtle ways....but usually parents are all-too-aware that their child might be struggling. Unfortunately, action often isn't taken until it becomes unmanageable and begins to significantly impact day-to-day life. Once at this point, parents often find themselves waiting months on end to see a psychologist and even once your child sees a professional, it can be a long journey before they build the relationship necessary to ACTUALLY learn how to manage their anxiety.
That's where the SOAR Kids: Navigating Anxiety with Confidence course can help. This course teaches children about their brain and the amygdala response, how to notice helpful and unhelpful thinking, practical tools for managing anxious moments, basic mindfulness and meditation, and (most importantly), that they are NOT ALONE in feeling the way they do 🩵

This is why we need to turn the focus from REACTIVE measures to PROACTIVE practices.
Ask any educator or health worker, the signs of mental health problems are often there in primary school, as subtle as they may be. Yet often, we only hear about mental health problems in children or adolescents once they are at crisis point (often in the later primary or high school years).
But what would happen if we began implementing purposeful teaching of tools and strategies to help children BEFORE they hit crisis point? That is what Soar is all about. 🧠💪✨
