Do you know that Shuriken are called swords?
It’s true!
Did you know that the name shuriken or 手裏劍 first emerged in the Muromachi period (1336AD to 1573AD), and the name itself means "the sword hidden under the hand." In english however we refer to them simply as "Throwing stars."

Ninja Stealth Tactics

In~nin and Yo~nin.
There are 2 categories of stealth infiltration in the ninja's arsenal.
The Second is Yo~nin, the art of disguise.
Yo~nin not only involves dressing up, but to also adopt and act out the mannerisms and roles of their disguise. An example if a Shinobi disguised himself as a traveling monk, then it was expected of him to know how to get to both shrines and temples and how to preform the right prayers in order to properly blend in without raising suspicion.

In~nin and Yo~nin.
There are 2 categories of stealth infultration in the ninja's arsenal.
The first and most well associated form of infiltration of ninja is In-nin.
In-nin focuses on the ninja remaining unseen and unnoticed by their enemies. Moving quietly (typically in the dark of night), using camouflage and taking advantage of distracted and lazy guards to slip past check points and enter strongholds and cities.

Ninja Stars/ Shurikan are an excellent focusing tool.
NINJA offers many life long skills. One and indeed the most valuable is FOCUS. Lining both mind and body to hone in on a target or goal.
Throwing stars is an excellent exercise for this, as it is both fun and offers a challenge.

Night Time Tracking
When Ninja traveled at night it was important for them to remain undetected but also remain close to the road (especially in rural areas). A clever tactic that Ninja use to track patrols at night was to draw a their Tanto (dagger), and cross the scabbard and blade.
Holding the cross along the horizon the ninja would watch the light from the patrol and could tell which direction they where moving in. If the light moved above the horizontal line, the patrol was moving away from the ninja, if it went below they where moving toward the ninja. If they moved to the left or right of the vertical line the ninja could tell which direction they where headed.
