💜 Principal’s Update 💜

Dear Aubin Grove families,

What a wonderful and busy few weeks we have had at Aubin Grove! There has been so much happening across the school, and it has been fantastic to see our students embracing every opportunity to learn, enjoy, aspire and focus.

🎶 One Big Voice
One of the highlights was seeing our talented students take part in One Big Voice at RAC Arena. There is something incredibly special about thousands of students coming together to sing, connect and celebrate the joy of music.

Our students were absolutely sensational and represented Aubin Grove with such pride. Even after facing a few challenges with late buses and traffic, they remained positive, patient and excited to be part of the experience.

We were particularly proud to hear that RAC Arena staff commented on how polite and well-mannered our students were. What a wonderful reflection of our students and our school community!

A huge thank you to our Music teachers, Mrs Bisdee and Mrs Johnstone, for the countless hours they have dedicated to rehearsals and preparation. We are also very grateful to the staff and parents who supported our students throughout the evening.

🔬 Science Week
Our classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity during Science Week! It has been wonderful to see students investigating, questioning, experimenting and discovering how the world around them works.

Science provides such a wonderful opportunity for students to be curious, take risks, make mistakes and try again, all important parts of being a learner. Our Science team has the important role of assessing over 100 Science experiment entries, and the winners will be notified in the near future.

💜Bullying No Way Week
We have also recognised Bullying No Way Week, with a strong focus on kindness, inclusion, respect and belonging.

At Aubin Grove, we want every child to feel that they are a valued and important part of our school community. Our students have been encouraged to think about the way their words and actions can make others feel and, importantly, how they can be an upstander when they see someone who needs support.

Thank you to our staff for the thoughtful conversations and activities happening across classrooms, and to our families for continuing these important conversations at home.

💜Coming Up…
We have plenty more happening over the coming weeks!

🏃‍♀️ K–2 Faction Carnival
We are looking forward to seeing our youngest students having fun, giving things a go and cheering on their faction.

🔒 Lockdown Drill
We will be conducting a lockdown drill as part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety. Families will receive information ahead of the drill so that you can talk with your children about the purpose of the practice and reassure them that they are safe.

🌟 EA & SNEA Week
We will be celebrating our incredible Education Assistants and Special Needs Education Assistants and recognising the enormous contribution they make to our students and school every single day. Their patience, care, expertise and commitment make such a difference to our children.

💛 R U OK? Day
We will also be taking the opportunity to focus on connection, kindness and checking in with one another. Sometimes a simple “Are you OK?” can be the beginning of an important conversation.

🚸 Crosswalk Attendant Update
Our brand new Crosswalk Attendant, Peter, is off to the UK on holiday to visit his family. We wish him a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing him back next term!

As always, thank you to our wonderful families for your ongoing support. Our school is at its best when we work together, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a positive and caring community.

Keep learning, keep smiling and keep looking out for one another.

✨ Classroom Spotlight - Room 8 ✨

Room 8 has had a fantastic start to Term 3, beginning with an exciting excursion to the WA Museum Boola Bardip. Students explored underwater technologies, discovered fascinating animal artefacts and consolidated their learning about the classification of living things. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life!

In HASS, students have been exploring the important role community groups play in our society. Each student selected a community group that interested them, researched how it contributes to the community and proudly shared their learning during our recent class assembly. They have also been developing their understanding of why rules and laws are important and how they help keep communities safe, fair and organised.

Room 8 has also been working hard to build oral reading fluency through regular paired fluency sessions. Students are practising reading accurately, smoothly and with expression while supporting and learning alongside their reading partners.

In Science, students are investigating heat and exploring how different materials respond to it. They have been considering the many ways we use heat in everyday life and discovering how heat can affect the objects and materials around us.

It has certainly been a busy and exciting start to the term in Room 8 with Miss Tiernan, with plenty of opportunities to explore, investigate, collaborate and share their learning. We can’t wait to see what the rest of Term 3 brings!💜

✨ Classroom Spotlight – Room 25 ✨

Our Room 25 friends have had a very busy and exciting few weeks!

🌏 HASS & Excursion: The class visited WA Museum Boola Bardip, where students took part in a guided tour and explored exhibitions about technology from the past and present, as well as the interactive ocean exhibition. Both experiences linked perfectly with their HASS learning from last term about past and present technology and this term’s focus on continents and oceans.

📚 Book Week & Narrative Writing: Their narrative learning has tied in beautifully with Book Week and a celebration of everything amazing about books. Students have become authors of their very own books, writing and publishing original stories and using mixed media to create imaginative front covers.

🎭 Assembly: Room 25 friends also presented a Book Week-themed assembly, with students enthusiastically creating and performing their own dance moves!

We are incredibly proud of their creativity, confidence and teamwork. What a wonderful few weeks of learning and fun in Room 25 with Mrs Fehring! ✨

A very special thank you to our wonderful Music teachers, Mrs Bisdee and Mrs Johnstone, who have poured countless hours into rehearsals and preparation. Their passion, commitment and hard work have helped make this experience so special for our students. 🎶👏
A huge thank you also to our incredible support crew Foulk Sensei, Mrs Lucas, Mrs Gillam and Miss McQuilkin for helping our students throughout the evening and making sure everything ran smoothly. We are so grateful for your support!
