Japanese Studies Society The Japanese Studies Society at the University of Western Australia (JSS).

The Japanese Studies Society at the University of Western Australia has a charter of fostering the exchange of culture, language, and information among Japanese and local students in Western Australia. Established in 1975, our Studies Society has a history spanning more than 40 years, the society has become a respected and vital medium for academic, social, and professional interaction on campus,

and in the community at large. In 2002, the club was part of the founding group of societies collaborating with the Consulate General of Japan in Perth to create the Friends of Japan network combining the information resources of the professional community, Japanese ex-patriot, and Japanese Exchange communities with our own in pursuit of our aforementioned goals.

Andddd before you know it, the break is about to wrap up, and we’re about to hit sem 2 😰

But with a new semester, it means more activities, more events and more memories🤩 🎉

Let’s take a look back on Sem 1, finishing off with May!

📅 Amongst our weeklies, we held a tea ceremony, and some kohakutou making! Some tasty experience for all to look back on 😋

📖To prepare for dreaded exams we held a study session with BBTS, and also took a relaxer with Arts Union for a movie night!

🎡 We celebrated Tokyo Alley’s 10th anniversary with Fukuwarai, featuring our beautiful Maru’s face 💕 Thank you once again to Tokyo Alley for having us!

🍁 We chillaxed at Autumn Feast, with the big Daruma from O’day! Performances and food trucks, a great way to spend the night

We had so many things in Sem 1 with only more to come! We have a lot planned for Sem 2, with a big announcement this week 👀 Keep a lookout!

Andddd before you know it, the break is about to wrap up, and we’re about to hit sem 2 😰

But with a new semester, it means more activities, more events and more memories🤩 🎉

Let’s take a look back on Sem 1, looking at April!

📅 With our usual weeklies, we learnt more about kendo, and yapped with everyone during Kaiwa!

💕JSS’s pop up cafe made a return with an idol theme! From matcha treats to performances, there may be an encore upcoming…👀

🔎and how can we forget when Marukuma plunged us all into The Tavern Trials: Marukuma Madness‼️ From deducing murderers to solving mysteries, we couldn’t have solved it without you all!

We have a lot planned for Sem 2, with a big announcement this week 👀 Keep a lookout!
