Congratulations to Ben Stack (OSC 2025), whose artwork is currently featured in the Pulse exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA. His piece, Moort Bodja, symbolically represents the 14 Noongar language groups through Dreamtime stories, with animals, the life-giving river and the protective Wagyl reflecting a deep connection to land, water and heritage.
The Pulse exhibition celebrates recent Year 12 Visual Arts graduates from 43 schools across WA, gauging the pulse of young people who will influence, empower and shape the world we live in. The selected works provide an inspiring and insightful look into the private, social and artistic concerns of young people.
The exhibition is free to attend running until 13 September, for more information see the link below:

Last week we celebrated 30 years of the Dining Hall, officially opened by Old Scotch Collegian and boarder, John Paterson (OSC 1949) on the 22nd of April 1996!
Boarders had traditionally eaten their meals in the original ballroom of Barrett’s House, what is now known as Collegians’ House, since 1905, extended in the early 1940s, by enclosing part of the north verandah.
Due to an influx of numbers, an aesthetically unsympathetic dining hall was built off Collegians’ House, facing towards Shenton Road, in 1964, doubling the space for seating and new kitchen facilities.
By 1996, the distance between this dining hall and the boarders’ accommodation was too far and facilities in the old hall were becoming outdated, leading to the decision for a new and improved hall that would be more accessible for the boys, which has remained true to this day.
In its 30 years, the Dining Hall has witnessed an array of hosted events over the years, including reunions, Senior Luncheons, and Founder’s Day Dinners, to name a few.
