Hocking Early Learning Family Daycare Established 2017, we provide a nurturing home environment where children aged 0-5 thrive through a comprehensive early childhood education program.

Our philosophy centres on learning through play, allowing your little ones to explore, discover and grow. We are an approved home-based Early Childhood Education service in Perth Western Australia. Our Service is CCS approved. We offer an Early Childhood Education program for children aged 0-5 years. Our program is play based and it includes such things as nature play, tending to our veggie garden

Indigenous Literacy Day

Today we recognise Indigenous Literacy Day and the importance of supporting literacy, storytelling and the sharing of First Nations languages and cultures.

Stories have always played an important role in passing knowledge, culture, history and connection from one generation to the next. Introducing children to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, books and languages helps foster respect, understanding and an appreciation of Australia’s rich and diverse cultures.

At Hocking Early Learning, we believe that books and storytelling can open up a world of learning, curiosity and connection. By sharing diverse stories with children, we can help them develop a sense of belonging and respect for the many voices and cultures that make up our community.

Today is a wonderful reminder of the power of stories and the importance of ensuring every child has the opportunity to discover the joy of reading. 💛

🌻 Spring is here! Time to plant our sunflowers! 🌻

With the warmer weather arriving, it was the perfect time to get our hands dirty and start planting! 🌱 The children have been busy exploring the seeds, preparing our garden and learning about what plants need to grow and thrive.

Now comes the exciting part… watering, caring for them and watching as our tiny seeds begin their journey into beautiful sunflowers. 🌻💛 There is something so special about planting a seed and patiently watching the magic of nature unfold.

I can’t wait to see how tall our sunflowers grow this year! 🌱☀️🌻

A couple of our little friends will be heading off to big school next year, so we’re looking for some new little friends to join us in 2027!

If you’re looking for care starting January/February 2027, please email your details (listed in the flyer) as soon as possible and we’ll add you to our waitlist.

📅 Days available are still to be confirmed, but we’ll have a much better idea over the next few weeks.

🔬✨ SCIENCE WEEK IS COMING! ✨🔬

Get ready for a week full of curiosity, wonder, experimenting and discovering! 🧪🔍

We’re going to be exploring science through lots of hands-on, play-based experiences, including our Science Sensory Tray, growing our very own Sea Monkeys in a magical castle tank, and discovering the magic of electricity with our Plasma Ball! ⚡️🧫

And that’s just the beginning… plus lots more fun science activities planned throughout the week!

I can’t wait to see all my little scientists exploring, experimenting, asking questions and discovering how amazing the world around us can be. ❤️

✨🧚🏼A Place Where Childhood Magic Happens 🧚🏼✨

Our garden is becoming even more magical as the plants continue to grow and more fairies, dragons and gnomes quietly move in.

I wanted to create more than just an outdoor play area. I wanted a place where children could let their imaginations run wild, where a winding path leads to magical discoveries, hidden fairy homes and tiny surprises waiting to be found.

This is a space where children can slow down, wonder, imagine and simply be children. A place where branches become magic wands, leaves become fairy boats, and every tiny discovery sparks a new adventure.

There is no right or wrong way to play here. The learning is child-led, unhurried and full of wonder. Every day, the children race into the garden, eager to see who has visited overnight, create new stories, and lose themselves in imaginative play. These are the childhood memories I hope they carry with them long after they’ve outgrown this little magical garden and our family daycare.

Watching their excitement reminds me exactly why I created this space. Childhood should be filled with wonder, imagination and just a little bit of magic. ✨

🐻A Week of PJs, Teddy Bear Picnics & Making a Difference🐻

What a wonderful week we’ve had celebrating National Pyjama Day here at Hocking Early Learning Family Daycare! The children arrived each day in their cosy pyjamas, cuddled their favourite teddy bears, and enjoyed special Teddy Bear Picnics together. It was a week filled with fun, laughter, friendship and meaningful conversations.

Throughout the week, we talked about why we were wearing our pyjamas and raising money for The Pyjama Foundation. The children learned that not every child has the same opportunities and that some children in foster care need a little extra support. We spoke about kindness, helping others and how something as simple as reading a book with a caring adult can make a big difference in a child’s life.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to or shared our fundraiser so far. Your kindness and generosity are helping support children in foster care by providing them with a Pyjama Angel—a mentor who helps build confidence, encourages a love of learning, and reminds them that they matter.

Our fundraiser is still open, so if you would like to donate or simply share our page, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation and every share helps us reach a little further and make an even bigger difference.

🌿🤎 Bush Tucker Playdough 🤎🌿

We have been engaging all of our senses with beautiful Bush Tucker Playdough, infused with natural Australian scents including Wattleseed, Davidson Plum, Strawberry Gum and Lemon Myrtle. The children rolled, pressed, stamped and created using Aboriginal-inspired rollers and cutters, while adding a sprinkle of Emu Egg and Country Bio Glitter to bring their creations to life.

The earthy aromas, natural colours and textured materials invited the children to slow down, explore with all of their senses, and engage in open-ended creative play. Experiences like these spark curiosity, strengthen fine motor skills, encourage imagination, and provide opportunities to respectfully introduce children to Australia’s native plants and First Nations perspectives.

There is something truly magical about creating with natural materials inspired by our beautiful Australian landscape. 🌿✨
