This week is National Nanny Appreciation Week here in Australia.
As a big believer in "it takes a village to raise a child", I truly value my role as a nanny. I have the opportunity not only to have fun in my job, but also to help parents, and influence the growth of children into the beautiful, kind, inspiring people they are, and will be.
I know so many great nannies (a couple of mannies too!), and in my own childhood I had a nanny; and I know that each and every single one of these special people make a difference to so many children, families and communities.
So today, this week, I encourage you to say thank you to those special people who make yours and your children's lives so much richer. Maybe even give a gift, or take them to dinner. I guarantee that your appreciation of them will mean the world.
To be a nanny is so much more than just a job. We invest our hearts into it, and truly love the children (and by extension families) we care for. ❤❤

Children are always watching us. They are always learning from us.
In life when things don't quite go to plan it is often our first impulse to be frustrated and upset or angry. But how often do we then see the same behaviour in the children around us? It's important for us to remember to take a deep breath before reacting and ask ourselves what will be the healthiest and kindest way to act.
We can also use these times as teaching moments, for ourselves and for our children.
We won't always get it right, but it's about changing our attitude little by little until it comes naturally.
If we model being gracious and kind, our children will see that and will follow. 💕

Love this! We all need some kindness in our day! Especially getting towards the end of the year with all the hustle and bustle in the lead up to Christmas, children can become rather overwhelmed by it all. Not to mention tired!! So, if you're struggling, or your child is struggling, stop, take a moment to breathe, and check in on whether the cup needs to be refilled!! Xx 💕
Sometimes the best solution to unhelpful behavior is simply to be kind. ❤️

I'm very passionate about spreading kindness. Lives, and indeed the world, can be changed with a simple act of kindness. And the fantastic thing about kindness is that EVERYONE can do it!!
Children have a true capacity to be kind and loving - we need to involve them in sharing kindness! Here are some fantastic ideas - can you think of any more? # # # :D

Hi everyone!
I'm jumping out of a plane and skydiving on Sunday to raise money for Sands Australia, who support bereaved parents of miscarriage, still birth and newborn death, and also the medical professionals who work in the industry.
As a nanny, and also a bereaved parent myself, I understand the toll, both emotionally and physically, that the loss of a child at that stage of life can take, on parents, grandparents, family and friends. Sands has been somewhat of a saving grace in my own journey of loss, and I want to ensure that the organisation can keep up their 24/7 support around Australia.
Please consider giving a donation to this worthy charity. Follow the link below to go to my fundraising page.
Thank you all.
Every child is truly precious and loved.

I am privileged to work in some beautiful places. This is what I saw when I arrived at work today. 2 kangaroos just lounging in the sun on the lawn. :-)
What's something amazing you or your children have seen today?

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that when you bake with children you are teaching them valuable skills - it's not just about trying to stop them from licking the bowl before you've finished!!
They will learn skills such as;
- counting (1 egg, 2 eggs, 3 eggs...)
- math skills (1/2 cup + 1/2 cup = 1 cup)
- naming colours (all those different coloured patty pans!!)
- fine motor skills (picking up items)
- gross motor skills (stirring the bowl)
- teamwork (working together is fun!)
- basic cooking skills
- basic chemistry (when you add all the ingredients together they bind)
- basic reading (reading a recipe)
- scissor skills (cutting open the flour)
- the importance of cleaning up afterwards
- a sense of achievement when the food is baked and they taste it!!
All of these things and so many more!!
I believe that all children from about 18 months upwards can help out in the kitchen - and they truly love it, as do I!!
When was the last time you baked with your child, and what did you make??
