My grandmother is a twin. When my writing mentor Lisa discovered I was planning a book on twin sisters she suggested I read Sally Hepworth's The Good Sister. So I bought it for my Easter read and was only able to put it down for lunches at wineries. Fern and Rose are twins. Fern works at the local library and prefers a routine. Rose keeps an eye on Fern. When she discovers Rose can't have a baby, Fern decides to reward Rose for her care. The pregnancy isn't the only thing that upends Fern's life, as secrets from the past return.

The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths.
When 90 year old Peggy Smith dies it seems it was just old age. But her carer Natalka has concerns and brings them to DS Harbinder Kaur who at first dismisses them.
But a masked gunman at Peggy's flat causes her to rethink and "assisted" by three amateur sleuths - Natalka, Benedict, former monk and now coffeeshop owner and Edwin, a retired BBC producer and friend of Peggy- she investigates to find just what happened to self styled murder consultant Peggy Smith.
Written in the cosy style of detective fiction, bringing with it elements of the Golden Age of crime writing, this is a witty and compelling tale and thoroughly recommended. Enjoying a glass of Cava on a mellow Saturday afternoon.

Death in the East by Abir Mukherjee. The 4th in the Wyndham and Bannerjee series but the first for me - will be seeking the others out and waiting for the next.
1922 and Captain Sam Wyndham of Calcutta CID is heading up country to try to conquer his o***m addiction at an ashram. On the way, at a railway station, he sees a man he long thought dead, and a man who had tried to kill him.
Moving between Sam's present and his past we journey back to 1905 London where he was involved in investigating a heinous murder and crime to understand his shock and horror at encountering the killer so many years and miles away.
As Sam struggles to come to terms with his addiction and the appearance of his nemesis he calls on his assistant, Sgt Surendranath Bannerjee to help.
A wonderfully conceived and constructed thriller - as well as an excellent detective story it gives insight into the attitudes and prejudices of the British Raj and the wonder and colour of India at a pivotal time in the struggle for independence.
2009 Cabernet Sauvignon- Rich dark red, a bouquet of blackcurrants, blackberries, mulberries and violets. Opulent, smooth palate with flavours of ripe plums, blackberries, liquorice, spicy oak.
