Last year, Turtle Trackers recorded 38 sightings and helped protect 20 nests. Their observations are supporting PhD research at Murdoch University and helping researchers better understand local turtle populations.

Join the City and Enviro House at one of two training sessions to learn how to spot nesting turtles, identify and protect nests, and record observations.

The City has begun rolling out a centralised CCTV system, embracing new technology to keep its community safe.

The upgrade will introduce new cameras and contemporary technology across City facilities and public spaces, creating a more coordinated and scalable CCTV network.

The new system will also provide Western Australia Police Force with secure access to the City’s CCTV network, allowing officers to review and download footage as required to support community safety responses and investigations.

New security roller shutters are helping keep baysiebears' facilities safer at Lower Hillcrest Reserve 🏏

Delivered as part of the City’s 25-26 Community Capital Request Grants Program, the shutters replaced security bars and also make it easier for club staff to communicate with people on the grounds.

The 2027/28 Community Capital Request Grants Program is now open, supporting community and sporting not-for-profit organisations to improve City-owned facilities.

Applications close at 4pm on Friday 6 November.

An exciting milestone for the Tranby Reserve foreshore restoration project, with Maylands Peninsula Primary School students joining us to plant more than 1,500 native sedges, rushes and herbs last week 🧒🌱

Works commenced earlier this year to stabilise the riverbank, ensuring it remains a place for connection and enjoyment, while continuing to provide vital habitat for wildlife 💚

This special planting morning marked the beginning of a larger restoration effort, with 16,500 plants, including 60 trees, to be planted along this important stretch of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) 🌳🌊

It was fantastic to see our youngest environmental stewards helping shape the future of this beautiful part of our City. Thank you to everyone who helped make the morning such a success, as the project nears completion 🤗

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program ($950,000), with the support of the City of Bayswater and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions’ Riverbank Grants Program ($130,769).
