Moerlina provides an inquiry-based, student-centred approach to teaching the WA State and National curriculums. It has around 60 students from pre-kindy (age 3) to Year 6 and is co-educational, multicultural and non-denominational. The school prioritises small, multi-age classrooms, catering to the individual needs of children and their families.

Each class has taken turns deciding the item of the day and then feeling, listening, investigating, and predicting what was inside for hands-on discussion and discovery 💡

🌿✨ Wrapping up another bush school day with an amazing nature journal entry: We welcomed mindfulness observation and exploration, as we recorded the many colors of the new season in our nature journals, sharing knowledge and keeping aware not to harm any of our precious natives.

Our Bush School days run fortnightly during Terms 2 and 3, where we spend the whole school day in the bushland to foster a connection to the land while cultivating skills in observation, critical thinking, and resilience. It’s incredible to see how awareness and care can deepen our connection with the world around us. 🌱

Djilba has arrived—a gentle season of new beginnings where the outdoors again invite us to observe the changes. These bursts of pink collected from our school’s grounds have been an inspiration for these wonderful art.

These were created in our lovely morning mindful creativity sessions where we practice becoming thoughtful observers, persevere through challenges, and expressing ourselves authentically.

At the end of Term 2, the Kindy and Pre-Primary class had a wonderful day at Landsdale Farm, a perfect way to end our farm theme! We were introduced to the chickens, sheep, horses, goats, and guinea pigs, which we got to feed. In the barn, we learned about chicks and even saw one hatch! We met a mother duck with eleven ducklings, petted rabbits, and held baby chicks. We also learned about the worm farm and enjoyed a cart ride around the property, spotting pigs, steers, turkeys, emus, alpacas, and talking birds.

The children were engaged and excited, connecting with the animals and exploring farm life. We all had such a fun day out on our enriching educational adventure.
