Congratulations, Yuko! Dr Henry Lim, Dean of the Sheridan Business School, recently presented Ms Yuko Seno (GradDipBA, 2025) with a Certificate of Appreciation for her year-long service as the student representative on the SBS Industry Panel.

Yuko has since graduated and is now pursuing her MBA at Edith Cowan University. We're so proud to have played a part in her journey.

After meeting hundreds of Year 10 students across WA, here’s what we want every student to hear: there is no single pathway to higher education, career success or a meaningful future.

Many students are anxious about locking in the "right" subjects for the "right" career. We get it — it feels like a big decision.

But here's the truth: countless accomplished professionals reached success through unexpected, winding routes.

Instead of asking, "What should I become?", ask yourself: What comes naturally to me? What subjects energise me? What activities make me lose track of time? Where can I make a difference?

The answers often reveal the direction worth pursuing. The most successful people often discover their path by first understanding their strengths, passions, and curiosity.

Extraordinary careers aren't built on theory alone.

A huge thank you to Mr. Derrick Oriaifo, Area Manager – Financial Accounting at Western Power, for an engaging and lively guest lecture that brought auditing to life in a way no textbook ever could!

Derrick is no ordinary practitioner. A CA, FCCA Fellow, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Board Member of the 100 Women Public Ancillary Fund WA, he brings a rare depth of cross-sector experience, having worked in senior finance and assurance roles cross blue-chip multinationals and industry leaders including Deloitte, Coca-Cola HBC, Scott Park Group, and Kinetic IT.

That breadth of exposure gave our students a front-row view of the full arc of professional practice: ethics, assurance, client evaluation, risk assessment, testing approaches, and audit reporting — all grounded in real scenarios, real decisions, and real stakes.

We love challenging our students to think beyond the lecture slides, connect their learning to the real world, and glimpse what's genuinely possible with the right academic support alongside them.
