💙✨ MacKillop House Day Celebration! ✨💙

We loved celebrating MacKillop House Day on Friday! The morning was filled with music, beautiful singing from the choir and solo performances.

Inspired by Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint, our students reflected on her courage, compassion, and commitment to education. She is remembered for her kindness and her belief in helping those most in need.

🌟 Congratulations to our three students who received the MacKillop House Award for showing the qualities and strengths Mary MacKillop lived by. We are so proud of them!

To finish the celebration, MacKillop House enjoyed a refreshing icy pole - a perfect treat as spring approaches. 💙

📚✨ Book Week Fun at Orana! ✨📚

We had so much fun during Book Week that we can’t help but share even more moments with you.

Our Guess Who? edition had everyone smiling as students tried to match staff members to their favourite children’s books. The hall was full of laughter during the Three Little Pigs retell, with teachers bringing the story to life in the most entertaining way.

Our students loved spending time outside for Big Rug Read, sharing stories with friends on cosy rugs while mixing across year groups. It was a beautiful way to connect through books and enjoy reading in the sunshine.

A huge congratulations to the students who took part in Write a Book in a Day - an incredible achievement and a celebration of storytelling.

📚✨ Author Visit with Gabriella Page ✨📚

Our Year 6 students were inspired by a visit from Perth-born author Gabriella Page, who recently published her debut novel, The Nardi Puzzle.

Gabriella shared her journey to becoming a published author, offered valuable insights into her writing process, and encouraged students to think about the question, "How do you start writing a story?" Students also enjoyed hearing an exciting excerpt from her novel.

Thank you, for inspiring our young writers and readers to embrace their creativity and storytelling potential!

📚✨ Book Week Parade Magic! ✨📚

One of the highlights of Book Week is our Book Parade, and what an amazing event it was. Students arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, filling the hall with colour, creativity and huge smiles. The costumes were clever, joyful and beautifully made - a true celebration of imagination and reading.

Teachers joined in the fun too, stepping into character and sharing the excitement with our students. It was a wonderful moment of community, creativity and the joy of books.

And this was just one of the many Book Week events at Orana - more to come!

🎶✨ Performing Arts – Woodwind, Choir & Guitar Spotlight! ✨🎶

🎷 Our woodwind students shone beautifully at the Primary Brass and Woodwind Solo and Duet section of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival last week. From flute to clarinet and saxophone, students performed with confidence, focus, and musicality — showcasing the skills they’ve been developing throughout the year.

🎤 The Orana Choir performed at St Benedict’s Church, Applecross in the Sacred Choral Music section of the festival. Their dedication and preparation were clear in a performance filled with beauty, confidence, and heart.

🎸 Our classical guitar and bass guitar students also performed solos and duets, with Orana represented in 21 items across the two festival sections. Performing gives students, the opportunity to share their talents with the wider community and appreciate the musicianship of students from other schools. Orana achieved outstanding results throughout both events.

We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the outstanding results achieved. 🌟

🎉✨ Year 6 Confirmation Retreat ✨🎉

Our Year 6 students spent time this week deepening their understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation and the special gift they are preparing to receive. Through thoughtful activities and discussion, students explored the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and reflected on how these gifts guide them in their everyday lives.

They also learned about the steps involved in receiving the sacrament and connected their faith learning to real moments in their own journey. It was a meaningful and uplifting experience for all. 🙏💛

📚 Help the Orana Quest Team Write a Book in a Day! ✏️

Some of our Orana Quest students are taking on the Write a Book in a Day challenge on Friday 28th August to raise money for The Kids’ Cancer Project and support vital childhood cancer research.

The team will have just 7 hours to write, illustrate and publish an original book, working together to turn a handful of mystery prompts into a complete story!

We’re looking for donations to help our team reach their fundraising goal and support this wonderful cause. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

🏉✨ Modcrosse & League Tag Carnival Highlights! ✨🏉

Last Tuesday, our students took part in the Modcrosse and League Tag Carnival, and it was a fantastic day from start to finish. The energy and enthusiasm were clear from the first whistle, with everyone getting involved and giving their best effort across both sports.

In Modcrosse, students showcased impressive stick skills, teamwork, and quick thinking. The League Tag games were fast‑paced and competitive, with brilliant tries and some outstanding try‑saving tags throughout the day.

A special shout‑out to our League Tag team, who fought hard all day and finished an incredible 3rd overall — a fantastic achievement against strong competition!

It was wonderful to see students having so much fun, cheering each other on, and displaying excellent sportsmanship. Well done to everyone involved for a great day of sport for our school! 🌟

🎶✨ Orana Performing Arts – Brass & Woodwind Highlights! ✨🎶

Orana brass and woodwind students attended Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School in Lockridge on Monday for the Primary Brass and Woodwind Solo and Duet section of the Performing Arts Festival.

Orana was proudly represented in 41 items across the day. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, thanks to adjudicator Mrs Vouyoucalos, creating the perfect environment for students to shine.

Performing in a solo or duet helps students build excellence, confidence, and resilience - and Orana achieved outstanding results throughout the day. 🌟
