Yesterday, our College community gathered for a moving ANZAC Day Commemoration, honouring the courage, service and sacrifice of all who have served our nation.

We were especially proud to welcome back alumna Ms Sally Edmondson, whose remarkable career as a Clinical Psychologist and Squadron Leader in the RAAF reflects a life of service, leadership and compassion. With two of her daughters now part of our College community, her address was a powerful reminder of the enduring connection between past and present, and how the ANZAC spirit continues through generations.

Lest we forget.

Mercedes College is seeking volunteer hairdressers to support our Ponytail Project on Wednesday 17 June, at lunchtime. This meaningful event raises awareness and vital funds for the Cancer Council, while helping create wigs for those experiencing hair loss.

We are looking for volunteers to help cut ponytails and provide students with a simple trim to help them feel comfortable until their next hairdressing appointment. We warmly welcome qualified hairdressers, salons and hairdressing students who would like to support this important cause.

Last year, our community raised over $40,000 for the Cancer Council, and we look forward to coming together again to make an impact!

If you’re able to volunteer your time or would like more information, please email [email protected] with your details!

On Sunday, our Community Day was a wonderful success, welcoming more than 400 community members, many of whom are proud alumni of Mercedes College, Our Lady’s College and St Joseph’s School.

Guests enjoyed the opportunity to explore the campus through guided tours, engage with historical displays, and reconnect with the stories, spaces and traditions that have shaped the College community across generations. The day offered a meaningful reflection on the College’s rich heritage and history spanning more than 180 years, while celebrating its place within the wider community.

We extend our sincere thanks to our alumni volunteers who generously gave their time to support the day, and to the Mercedes College Alumni Choir for their beautiful performance to a full chapel. Your contributions helped create a welcoming and memorable experience for all.

It was a privilege to see so many familiar faces reconnect and enjoy the celebrations as part of the City of Perth and Boorloo Heritage Festival. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special.

This Sunday, 19 April, Mercedes College will open its gates to the wider community and our alumni for a special Community Open Day, as part of the Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival, in partnership with the City of Perth.

The day invites visitors to experience and celebrate our rich Mercy story. Guests will enjoy self-guided tours across the College, explore the History Display in the Conference Centre, and listen to the beautiful voices of the MCA Alumni Choir performing in the Chapel at 1.00pm.

All volunteers will be provided with clear instructions on arrival, along with tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep you refreshed during your shift.

This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the College community, give back, and help share the story that connects us all. We would love to have you involved.
