Zhongruan performance by our student, Jackson, and Deputy Principal, Regina at our Mid Autumn Festival concert last night. Zhongruan (中阮), meaning "tenor ruan," is a Chinese plucked string instrument, a medium-sized, tenor-ranged member of the ruan family with a round body, a fretted neck, and four strings. Often called the "Chinese guitar" due to its sound and playing style, it is played with a plectrum (pick) but can also be played with fingers. The zhongruan provides the mid-range in Chinese orchestras and also features in popular solo and ensemble repertoire. If you’re interested in learning to play the Zhongruan, please contact us. We need more players to form a Zhongruan band!
