In the world of Narcos, being a rat never ends well.

Eres una rata (confidente de la policía)

Eres muy rata (más agarrao que un chotis)

Well, this is a typical said from Madrid

El chotis es el baile típico, very tight...

It means to be stingy or cheap...

But relax

We are not talking about Narcos today.

We are talking about something even more dramatic:

A rat can start a pandemic.

Yes. One little rat. Tiny body. Big drama.

I saw this headline in Spanish:

"Doctores en Australia dicen que el Hantavirus se puede transmitir a través de flatulencias"

"Doctors in Australia say Hantavirus could be transmitted through flatulence."

In normal English:

A virus. From a rat. Through a fart.

Beautiful science.

Terrible marketing.

Muy mal todo

Pánico ON

The guy who posted it said:

"En la lápida la broma se hará realidad: por un p**o, aquí me veo"

"Now the tombstone joke will become real: 'I'm here because of a fart.'"

And honestly? Pura poesía

So yes, we're using this in class.

Because Spanish is not just "hola" and "me llamo Maria."

Spanish is news, drama, viruses, internet comments, rats, jokes, and people saying things they should maybe keep inside.

This week we'll talk about current news, health, animals, panic, and how to say

"Are you a rat?" in Spanish without getting into trouble.

Also, by popular vote...

I'm inviting native Spanish speakers too to the party, so we can practise with the real deal.

Real people. Real Spanglish. Real chaos.

Come in if you want to practise.

Español o inglés?

No rats allowed.

Spanish speakers? Absolutely.

Let’s be honest.

I’m not giving you that money.

But maybe I can save you from spending thousands
on language courses that don’t really help you speak.

Because you don’t need another course.

You need people.

Real people.
Native speakers.
A community.
A place where you can speak Spanglish badly… until you speak better.

That’s the idea behind the 30-Day Spanglish Challenge.

A Spanglish conversation challenge with real Spanish and English native speakers.

You practise Spanish.
They practise English.
Everybody helps everybody.

No magic method.
No fake fluency promises.
No “speak like a native in 3 months” fantasy.

Just real conversation.

With humans.

Porque el Engliñol no se colecciona.

El SpanEnglish se habla.

I won’t give you $1000

Obviously not.

But let’s be honest…

Sometimes we buy a Spanish course hoping it will magically make us speak like natives in 3 months.

And you know this is not how it works.

You don’t need another course.

You need people.

Real people.
Native speakers.
Conversation.
A community.
A place where you can speak, make mistakes, laugh, repeat, try again and not feel like a complete disaster.

That’s why I created the 30-Day Spanglish Challenge.

A Span-English conversation challenge with real Spanish and English native speakers.

You practise Spanish.
They practise English.
Everybody helps everybody.

Small groups.
Simple topics.
Spanglish allowed.
Grammar panic forbidden.

Because Spanish is not something you only study.

Spanish se habla.

I won’t give you $1000

But I will help you speak Spanglish with real people.

You don’t need more courses.

You need people.

Real people.

Because maybe you already know some Spanish.
You can read it.
You can understand a bit.
You have done apps, videos, podcasts, grammar…

But when you have to speak?

Your brain goes:

No estoy disponible.

That’s why I created a 30-day Spanish conversation challenge with real Spanish and English native speakers.

You practise Spanish.
They practise English.
Everybody helps everybody.

Small groups.
Simple topics.
Real conversation.
Zero grammar panic.

Stop studying Spanish alone.

Start speaking with humans.

100 phrases - Blanbla 12/05/2026

“Ahora voy.”

In Spanish, this does NOT always mean:

“I’m coming now.”

Sometimes it means:

“I’m still at home.”
“I’m thinking about leaving.”
“I have emotionally started the journey.”

This is why real Spanish feels so different from textbook Spanish.

You may know the words.
You may know the grammar.

But then a real Spanish person speaks…

and your brain goes: adiós.

So I made a free guide with 100 real Spanish phrases people actually use in everyday life.

Not app Spanish.
Not textbook Spanish.
Real Spanish.

Download it here:

100 phrases - Blanbla Let me tell you why it’s so difficult to understand and speak Spanish. It’s not the grammar. It’s not the vocabulary. It’s this: My boyfriend… un guiri (foreigner, a bit lost) He was waiting for me at the bar (poor thing) I said: “Ahora voy.” What I meant: “give me 20 minutes (to le...

This week’s Spanish challenge is going to be a little bit… different.

We’re using a scene from Narcos where they talk about a “recipe” for making co***ne.

Relax. We are NOT learning that recipe.

We’re using the scene to learn something much more useful:

How to talk about food, tapas, ingredients and recipes in Spanish.

And the star of the week is:

tortilla de patata.

Important: tortilla de patata is Spanish omelette.

Not tortillas for tacos.

Different food. Different country. Different drama.

This week you’ll learn how to say things like:

“My favourite food is…”
“You need potatoes, eggs and olive oil.”
“First, you cut the potatoes.”
“Then, you beat the eggs.”
“Finally, you cook the tortilla.”

And yes, we’ll also discuss the most controversial question in Spain:

tortilla con cebolla or sin cebolla?

Join the challenge this week and practise real Spanish through scenes, culture, food and conversation.

Come for Narcos.

Stay for the tortilla.

What do Pablo Escobar’s mother and your mother have in common?

Maybe more than you think 😅

This week in the Spanish Conversation Challenge, we are talking about one scene from Narcos: Pablo’s mother sewing jackets for him.

Very sweet.

Very motherly.

Very… illegal.

Madre mía.

But the real topic is not crime. The real topic is mothers.

Those classic mother phrases we all know:

“¿Dónde vas?” — Where are you going?

“¿Con quién vas?” — Who are you going with?

“No salgas así.” — Don’t go out like that.

“Pero… ¿cómo vienes?” — What happened to you?

In class, we’ll talk about mothers in Spanish: Spanish mothers, Colombian mothers, Australian mothers… and yours.

Protective? Dramatic? Funny? A little intense?

Come and practise with us this week.

Perfect Spanish? No.

Real Spanish? Sí.

Comment “MADRE” and I’ll send you the challenge.

You don’t need another Spanish course.

Seriously.

You don’t need another app.
You don’t need another list of verbs.
You don’t need another PDF that you will download, save, and never open again.

What you need is much simpler:

a community to speak.

With real people.

Seres humanos.

People like you.

People who also freeze when someone says:

“Hola, ¿qué tal?”

People who also think:

“I understand Spanish… but I can’t speak.”

People who want to practise without feeling stupid, judged, or like they are doing an oral exam in hell.

That’s why I created this 1-month Spanish challenge.

Every week you get:

A short video class with a story.
A very simple weekly reto.
And one live class in a small group, where we actually speak Spanish.

Not perfect Spanish.

Not robot Spanish.

Not Spanish to impress the green owl.

Real Spanish.

To speak.
To listen.
To participate.
To start feeling that Spanish can be part of your real life.

The challenge is here:

Go in, have a look, and join us.

This week, we are going to practise preferences in Spanish…

with Pablo Escobar.

Yes. You read that correctly.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you more.

And on Saturday, if you join the challenge, you can speak with other Spanish students in the live class.

See you inside,

Mónica

This pig gets it.

Look at him.

Book in his mouth.
No shame.
No stress.
No Duolingo owl screaming in the background.

Just pure joy.

Disfrutando like a pig in mud.

And honestly?

That’s how Spanish should feel.

Not like homework.
Not like punishment.
Not like another grammar table trying to ruin your will to live.

This is not another Spanish textbook.

It’s a book for people who are tired of apps, boring methods, and pretending that memorising verbs is the same as speaking.

Inside, you’ll find stories, Spanglish, culture, weirdness, and a new way to make Spanish stick.

And when you buy it, you also enter La Tribu:

extras, stories, speaking practice, private materials, and more Spanish chaos.

One book.
One payment.
A whole Spanish experience.

Grab it here:
