The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) of Western Australia was founded in Perth in 1902. The original aim centered on improving the education of Service Officers by promoting the study of strategic and defence matters. A defence oriented library was established, which today contains a fine collection. The RUSI of WA is a Constituent Body of the Royal United Services Institute of Australia. Th

e RUSI of WA holds evening lecture meetings (at 8.00 pm), usually on the fourth Thursday of most months at the RUSI rooms in Building 13 at Leeuwin Barracks, Fremantle. An annual seminar and an annual dinner are usually held, as are, occasional visits to Defence establishments. Evening lectures cost $5.00 which includes light refreshments after the lecture. For the long-awaited return of RUSI events in WA, we are very excited to be hosting Mr Rami Sherman this Thursday 6 July 2023, where he will be providing a firsthand account of the raid at Entebbe when Israeli Defence Force commandos carried out a daring counter terrorist hostage rescue at Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

We hope you will join us at the Old Officers' Mess, Artillery Barracks, Fremantle, entry off Tuckfield street. Doors will open at 19:00 for a 19:30 start. Please register your attendance via the following link:

Due to unforeseen circumstances we regret to advise that our speaker for tonight's event, Cameron Gillard, unfortunately can no longer present this evening.

Cameron's presentation on the Army's move from the ARH Tiger to the AH-64E Apache helicopter has been rescheduled to Thursday the 10th of June 2021.

An updated flyer with the relevant details will be circulated in due time.

We sincerely apologise for the short notice on this cancellation and any inconveniences it might cause. We hope to see you in early June instead!

After a quiet start to the year for RUSI WA you are warmly invited to attend our exciting next event on Thursday 20th May 2021.

Please join us in welcoming Cameron Gillard, Director Industry Development & Veterans Issues for Defence West, and his presentation on the Australian Army's scrapping of the ARH Tiger in favour of the AH-64E Apache helicopter by 2025. See the flyer attached for details.

As always our doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start at the Old Officers' Mess, Artillery Barracks, Fremantle (entry off Tuckfield street).

He understands how strategic decision making is supposed to occur and how it actually happens. Matt is now the Executive Director of Defence West, a state government office that is charged with attracting increased Defence spending in WA.
