Contemporary Metal Studio is a jewellery and silversmithing school based in Perth, Western Australia. The studio is run by Jeweller and Silversmith Philip Noakes. We teach, make and sell beautiful contemporary jewellery and silver objects. We aim to help makers of all skill levels to develop and improve their skills. We are flexible with both class content and time-frames, so please get in touch w

ith your specific needs. Philip Noakes has been making jewellery and silver objects for over 40 years, both in Australia and his homeland, England. Philip brings much expertise to the workshop with his extensive experience in traditional and contemporary craftsmanship.

News Update
Contemporary Metal teaching courses and the studio will close on the 19 December 2026. Five week courses and short courses have been scheduled for 2026. Some additional short courses will be added later in the year. Philip Noakes will continue his own work in a new studio. There will be a closing event and a tool and equipment sale which will be announced in mid-2026.

Philip is giving two Artist Talks during his "Sculptural Silver” exhibition, 9 August to 1 September at Linton and Kay’s Cottesloe Gallery, 40 Marine Parade Cottesloe.

The dates are Saturday 17 August and Saturday 31 August, 2pm to 4pm. You don’t need to rsvp to attend and you are welcome to bring friends.
