Stay the Course, Captain—Build Your Life on Solid Ground
Life is a lot like navigating through open waters. Your goals and purpose are the distant shores you’re striving toward. Along the way, storms will hit, waves will crash, and you’ll get tossed around. But as Jesus reminds us in Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV), “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
When your life is built on a solid foundation—your faith, your core values, and a clear vision—you become unshakable. No matter what life throws at you, you’ll stand strong. Storms don’t last forever, and when they pass, you’ll find that the sun comes up again, bringing clarity, peace, and a renewed sense of purpose.
It’s essential to stay clear on where you’re heading. Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) says it perfectly: “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” When you have a vision for your life, every decision becomes easier as you know what brings you closer to your goals and what leads away, making it easier for you stay focused, even when distractions and challenges arise.
So, trust in your foundation. Keep your faith strong, knowing that it anchors you to the solid ground. The storms will come, but they won’t knock you off course.
You’re built for this. Stay true to your path, and in time, you’ll arrive at your destination, full of joy, peace, and purpose.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NIV)
