Twilight Seminar: Primary Media Arts in an AI World

In today’s AI-shaped digital landscape, our youngest learners are growing up surrounded by media that is increasingly generated, curated, and influenced by algorithms.

So how do we equip them to navigate it thoughtfully and confidently?

Our upcoming twilight seminar explores how Media Arts in the primary years can cultivate:
✨ Critical media inquiry
✨ Media literacy
✨ Student agency

Children need simple, age-appropriate opportunities to:
πŸ” Explore how media constructs meaning
πŸ’‘ Understand how messages influence audiences
🧠 Examine how representations shape perspectives

Media Arts, as part of the WA curriculum, plays a vital role in preparing students for a fast-paced online world, supporting ethical and safe engagement while fostering creativity and critical thinking. It also offers rich opportunities for cross-curricular learning.

In collaboration with ATOM WA, this session will showcase practical, engaging, and manageable strategies for teaching Media Arts using existing classroom technologies.

Join us to discover how we can empower young learners not just to consume media but to question, create, and lead in an AI world.
