Over the past few weeks, our children, families, and educators have been participating in the Sea of Hearts initiative as part of National Reconciliation Week.
Our families and children have been working together to decorate hearts and share meaningful words, drawings, and messages about what Reconciliation means to them.
These beautiful creations have helped create links between home and our service, strengthening our sense of connection and community.
Our Sea of Hearts celebrates the voices, ideas, and creativity of our children and families while encouraging conversations about respect, culture, and Reconciliation.
Thank you to all of our families who have contributed to this meaningful initiative. Together, we are creating opportunities for learning, reflection, and connection.

National Simultaneous Storytime - Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller🦘
On the 27th May our service participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. This is an annual event that brings over 2 million Australians together to read the same book at the exact same time. It is carried out by libraries, schools, early learning centre's, and homes nationwide.
The chosen book for 2026 was 'Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller' written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton. The book is an energetic underdog story about an outback kangaroo and her friends chasing their football dreams.
The campaign aims to promote the value of reading, literacy, and community while celebrating talented Australian authors and illustrators.

5.1 Interacting verbally and non-verbally

We recently set up a “Helping Hands Tree” experience in our atelier, welcoming the children and educators across the service to contribute.
This meaningful experience supported the children to explore trusted relationships, strengthen their sense of belonging, and recognise the importance of safe and responsive people in their lives. Through thoughtful conversations, the children were encouraged to identify who they can seek support from and how kindness, care, and respect can be demonstrated within their community, promoting wellbeing and strengthening safeguarding awareness in a secure and inclusive environment.
EYLF Learning Outcomes:
• Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
• Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
NQS:

In the Koorla Room, the children and families begin their day with a simple bag tag routine. On arrival, the children collect their tag and place it by their bag, supporting a calm, familiar, and confident start to the day.
This daily ritual encourages independence and helps children feel a strong sense of belonging as they settle into their learning environment and connect with educators and peers.
It supports children to build confidence in themselves and develop strong connections with the people and world around them, with belonging central to our practice.

Tag Sports at Tall Tree Early Learning Banksia Grove!
Kaya Families,
This week in Tag Sports, the children in our Kindy and Toddler room enjoyed participating in a fun and engaging softball session. They were introduced to the basic skills of softball including throwing, catching, batting and running between bases. The children practiced using hand-eye coordination while aiming for targets, catching balls with increasing confidence and taking turns batting during group games.
Throughout the experience, the children developed their gross motor skills, coordination and concentration while learning the importance of teamwork, patience and following instructions. They showed great enthusiasm as they encouraged one another, celebrated achievements and worked together during team activities.
The softball session also supported the children’s social development as they practiced taking turns, communicating with peers and demonstrating positive sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see the children building confidence, resilience and independence through our Tag Sports session.
The physical literacy elements that were focused on this week were Reaction Time, Movement skills, Hand-eye coordination, Confidence, Moving with equipment and Content knowledge.
Next week we are looking forward to getting to use to softball bats and balls to practice hitting the balls off the cones!
Our Coach this week was Coach Ella!

We have been exploring the book Rituals by Toni Christie and Memory Lyons as part of our ongoing reflective practice and professional learning.
This exploration has supported us to deepen our thinking around intentional teaching, the importance of calm and predictable environments, and the everyday rituals that help children feel safe, connected, and valued.
We are always seeking new ideas and inspiration that strengthen our practice, support meaningful relationships, and guide us in creating calm, responsive learning environments for children. Reflection is an ongoing part of our work as educators, helping us to continually grow and refine what we do each day.
We’d love to hear from our community, what small rituals or everyday practices do you think help children feel most calm, secure, and connected in early learning environments?
• Outcome 2.1 – Children develop a strong sense of identity
• Outcome 3.2 – Children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing
