Have you spotted our new foyer buttons? đ
Many of our children have been very interested in pressing the door-opening button when arriving and leaving the service. While we love seeing their enthusiasm and growing independence, we do ask that children arenât assisted to press the actual exit button, as teaching children how to independently exit the service doesnât align with our child safety practices.
So⌠we found a solution! đ
Weâve added special arrival and departure buttons in the foyer for children to press instead. This gives them a meaningful way to be involved in their daily routine, helps ease some of the frustration we were noticing, and adds a little bit of fun to those important transition times.
To make the buttons even more special, some of our children helped record Noongar greetings for them. When arriving, children will hear âWanjooâ, meaning welcome, and when departing, theyâll hear âBoodawanâ, meaning see you later. This small addition helps us celebrate and embed the language and culture of the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play.
Young children thrive when theyâre able to participate in everyday experiences, make choices, and feel like valued contributors to their environment. These simple buttons provide children with an opportunity to exercise their agency, build confidence, and take an active role in their arrival and departure routines in a safe and appropriate way.

This week, our children had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an intergenerational visit, fostering meaningful connections with members of our wider community. Together, they engaged in a range of activities, sharing conversations, laughter, creativity, and learning experiences. These interactions not only supported the children's social and emotional development but also contributed positively to the wellbeing of our community members, creating moments of joy, belonging, and connection across generations. We are proud to nurture empathy, respect, and a strong sense of community through experiences such as these.

This week, Classroom 1 has been busy exploring a variety of engaging experiences designed to support all areas of development. Through sensory play, creative arts, music and movement, and hands-on learning opportunities, the children have been building their confidence, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and fine and gross motor development. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity shine as they learn, discover, and grow through play each day.

Nest & Nurture: Supporting Our Village
At Nido Yokine, we understand that raising children takes a village. That's why we are excited to introduce our new community initiative, Nest & Nurture a program designed to bring new mums, dads, parents, and caregivers together to connect, share experiences, and access support within a welcoming and inclusive environment.
This month, we were delighted to host our first Mums & Bubs Yoga Session, providing a calm and nurturing space for parents to slow down, connect with their little ones, and build meaningful relationships with other families in our community.
Parenthood can be both beautiful and challenging, and through Nest & Nurture, we hope to create opportunities for families to connect, feel supported, and know that they are never alone on their journey.

Today, our Classroom 5 children had the exciting opportunity to visit the library and see their incredible artwork proudly displayed for the wider community to enjoy.
As part of their ongoing Garden Project, the children explored creativity through a variety of artistic mediums, creating beautiful clay fruits and vegetables, alongside detailed sketches of their favourite produce. This project allowed the children to deepen their understanding of nature, sustainability, and the growth journey of plants while expressing their ideas through art.
Seeing their work showcased in a public exhibition was a wonderful moment of pride and accomplishment for our young artists. We are so proud of the dedication, creativity, and thoughtfulness they have shown throughout this project.
If you're visiting the library, be sure to stop by and admire the amazing artwork created by our talented Classroom 5 children.

This week, we celebrate National Families Week - Australiaâs annual celebration recognising the vital role families play in our communities and society đ§Ą
The 2026 theme, âEvery Family, Everywhereâ, reminds us that every family is unique, bringing with them their own traditions, values, cultures and stories.
At Nido, we feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such rich cultural diversity across our families and educators. Our early schools are vibrant communities, filled with different languages, backgrounds and experiences that enrich childrenâs learning and help promote a deep sense of belonging.
This week, we celebrate every family, everywhere - and the love, connection and community they bring to our Nido nest đŞş
