🌟 **Celebrating the Special People in Our Families** πŸŒŸπŸ’™

Father’s Day gave us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the **fathers and special people who fill a father-like role in our children’s lives**. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ’™ We recognise that every family is unique, and this special person may be a dad, mum, nan, grandmother, grandparent or another loved one who provides care, love and support. πŸ₯°

The children enjoyed creating thoughtful Father’s Day gifts, including **photo frames πŸ–ΌοΈπŸ“Έ, paper flower bouquets πŸŒΈπŸ’, awards πŸ†, pop-up cards πŸ’Œ, salt dough handprints βœ‹ and mint plants 🌿**. Through cutting, gluing, painting, moulding and planting, the children developed their **fine motor skills, creativity, concentration and confidence**. πŸŽ¨βœ‚οΈπŸŒ± They proudly shared their ideas and created each gift with someone special in mind. πŸŽπŸ’™

Our celebrations also included **playing soccer ⚽, building train tracks πŸš‚πŸ›€οΈ and watering our garden πŸ’¦πŸŒ±**. These experiences supported gross motor development, teamwork, problem-solving, cooperation and responsibility. 🀝🌟

Most importantly, the children had opportunities to explore **love, family, belonging and connection**. πŸ’•πŸŒˆ Every little flower 🌸, handprint βœ‹, card πŸ’Œ and gift 🎁 was made with **little hands, big hearts and lots of love**. πŸ₯°πŸ’™

πŸ“šβœ¨ β€œBooks Bring Us Together!” ✨

πŸ“š At East Kenwick OSHC, we celebrated Book Week with a fun and engaging week filled with stories, imagination, creativity and connection. πŸ“–πŸŒˆ Throughout the week, children enjoyed exploring a variety of books and sharing their favourite stories and characters with educators and friends. During reading experiences, children listened to stories, discussed characters and events, shared their thoughts and made connections to their own experiences. πŸ“šπŸ’ Books also encouraged imaginative and dramatic play, with children acting out familiar characters, creating their own storylines and using different voices, emotions and ideas. 🎭✨ A special highlight was our exciting Book Week Parade, where children proudly dressed as characters from their favourite books and enjoyed celebrating together. πŸ‘‘πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈπŸ» Children had opportunities to confidently show their costumes, talk about their chosen characters, encourage their friends and participate in ways that suited their individual comfort levels. The experience fostered a strong sense of belonging and community as children celebrated each other's creativity and interests. ❀️🀝
Through these experiences, children developed confidence, communication, creativity and imagination. It was wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm of the children at East Kenwick OSHC as they discovered that books can inspire conversations, friendships, imaginative play and new ideas.

A little clay πŸͺ¨, a lot of creativity 🎨, and plenty of teamwork πŸ€πŸ’«!
Getting our hands messy πŸ™Œ, sharing ideas πŸ’‘, creating together πŸ‘, and enjoying the moment 😊✨.

A brilliant week of Learning at EAST KENWICK OSHCπŸ”¬βš—οΈπŸ”
What a brilliant and exciting week we had at East Kenwick OSHC! 🌟 The children were actively engaged in a wide range of hands-on experiences that supported their learning, creativity, curiosity, physical development and social skills. Throughout the week, the children had many opportunities to explore their own ideas, make choices, work collaboratively with their peers and learn through play. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and excitement as they experimented, created, moved and discovered new things together. πŸ’›βœ¨
πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ Scientific Exploration and Experiments: The children became little scientists as they explored different scientific reactions and experimented with a variety of everyday materials. They investigated the reaction between lemon juice and baking soda πŸ‹πŸ§ͺ, watching carefully as the ingredients reacted and created bubbles. The children were encouraged to make predictions, observe what happened and discuss their ideas with their friends and educators. They also explored colour experiments 🎨🌈, noticing how colours changed and interacted with one another. During the soda and vinegar pop-bag experiment, the children were excited to observe the reaction and eagerly waited to see what would happen. Through these experiences, children developed early scientific concepts such as cause and effect, observation, prediction and investigation. πŸ’‘πŸ‘€πŸŽˆβš‘ Another exciting experience was exploring static electricity using balloons. The children rubbed balloons and experimented with different materials to see what would happen. They were fascinated by the way the balloon could attract or move objects and were keen to repeat the experiment. This experience encouraged children to ask questions, test their ideas and develop an understanding that some things cannot be seen but can still have an effect. πŸ”Žβœ¨
🌱πŸ₯• Creating Our OSHC Veggie Garden: The children also worked together to create our OSHC veggie garden. 🌿🌻 They enjoyed being involved in preparing and planning the garden and developing an understanding of how plants grow and what they need to stay healthy. Through this experience, children developed a sense of responsibility and care for living things. Working together also encouraged cooperation, communication, turn-taking and teamwork. πŸ€πŸ’š The garden provides an ongoing opportunity for children to observe growth and change and to develop a stronger connection with nature. πŸŒ±β˜€οΈ
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈPhysical activity was another important part of our week. The children used their creativity to design and create their own obstacle courses, deciding where different challenges should be placed and how they could be completed. They enjoyed jumping, balancing, climbing, running and moving through the course. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨ These experiences supported gross motor development, balance, coordination, body awareness and confidence. Children also practised negotiating with their peers, sharing ideas and taking turns while creating and using the obstacle course. ⭐
🎨Creativity was encouraged through a variety of art and craft experiences. The children enjoyed making spinning wheels and cardboard robots, using their imagination to transform simple materials into creative constructions. πŸ€–πŸŽ¨ They made decisions about colours, shapes and designs and proudly shared their creations with others. These experiences supported fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and creative thinking. βœ‚οΈπŸ–οΈ
❀️🎨 The children also explored ways of expressing their emotions through art. They used colours, drawings and creative materials to represent their feelings and ideas. This provided an opportunity for children to talk about different emotions and recognise that everyone may express their feelings in different ways. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŒπŸ˜„ Through this experience, children were supported to develop emotional awareness, confidence and a sense of belonging within the OSHC environment.
πŸ”’β The children enjoyed maths dot games, making mathematical learning fun and engaging. They practised counting, recognising numbers, matching quantities and solving simple problems while playing with their peers. πŸ”’πŸ§  These experiences encouraged children to use mathematical thinking naturally within play and supported their concentration and problem-solving abilities.
🌟 Across all of these experiences, the children demonstrated curiosity, creativity, persistence, confidence, cooperation and problem-solving skills. They were willing to try new things, make predictions, ask questions and learn from their experiences. πŸ’‘πŸŒˆ They communicated their ideas with educators and peers, listened to others and worked together to achieve shared goals. The week provided rich opportunities for children to learn through meaningful play while developing skills across science, mathematics, physical activity, creativity, communication and emotional wellbeing. πŸŒ±πŸ”¬πŸŽ¨πŸ”’πŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€οΈ
It was truly wonderful to see the children’s excitement, imagination and confidence throughout the week. Every experience provided a chance to explore, discover and learn something new.🩡🩡🩡

πŸ”¬πŸŒˆ National Science Week at East Kenwick OSHC! πŸŒˆπŸ”¬
This week, we celebrated National Science Week with lots of excitement, curiosity, creativity and, most importantly, unlimited fun with learning! πŸ₯³πŸ”¬βœ¨ The children took the lead in exploring a wonderful range of hands-on science experiences that encouraged them to investigate, make predictions, ask questions, share ideas and discover how things work. πŸ§ͺπŸ”
The children had lots of fun creating with Lego and Click Blocks πŸ§±πŸ—οΈ, using their imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills to design and build different structures. They also explored an exciting orange and baking soda experiment 🍊πŸ§ͺ, using their senses to observe, smell, taste and talk about what they noticed. Our vinegar and baking soda experiment 🫧 was another favourite, as the children watched with amazement as the mixture fizzed and bubbled. They eagerly shared their predictions and observations with their friends and educators. πŸ’πŸ‘€
The children also investigated the Super Bug Mix experiment 🦠πŸ§ͺ using yeast, warm water and sugar. Before beginning, educators encouraged the children to make predictions about what might happen. As the yeast became active, the children observed bubbles forming and discussed how the yeast was producing gas. This experience introduced children to simple ideas about fermentation and chemical reactions while encouraging curiosity and scientific thinking. πŸ”¬βœ¨
Creating an ocean jar 🌊🐠 provided opportunities for the children to explore colours, water and movement while talking about the ocean and the importance of caring for our environment. πŸ’™πŸŒ The walking rainbow experiment πŸŒˆπŸ’§ was also magical to watch as children observed coloured water travelling through the paper towel. They were fascinated by the changes and excited to share what they could see. πŸ₯°βœ¨
The children also enjoyed blowing bubbles 🫧, experimenting with blowing gently and strongly while observing how the bubbles floated, moved, joined together and popped. This simple experience encouraged children to explore cause and effect while developing coordination and breath control. πŸ’¨πŸ˜Š
Our learning continued outdoors through a Nature Scavenger Hunt Relay πŸŒΏπŸ”πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. Working together in teams, the children searched the outdoor environment for natural items and clues. They observed leaves, sticks, different textures, colours and other features of nature. The relay encouraged children to communicate, cooperate, move their bodies and solve problems together while learning to care for and respect the natural environment. πŸŒ³πŸƒ
Our morning warm-up activities πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸŒž continued to support movement, balance, coordination and wellbeing. The children participated enthusiastically and encouraged one another throughout the activities. To finish our exciting week, we enjoyed a Fun Friday πŸŽ¨πŸŽ‰ with face painting and popcorn, creating lots of laughter, smiles and happy memories. πŸ˜„πŸΏ
Throughout National Science Week, the children developed curiosity, communication, creativity, problem-solving, observation, persistence and scientific thinking. They showed confidence as they tried new experiences, made predictions, observed changes and shared their ideas with others. Most importantly, the children discovered that science is everywhereβ€”in the food we mix, the bubbles we create, the colours we see, the natural environment we explore and the structures we build. 🌈πŸ§ͺ🌿🧱
πŸ’– What a fantastic week of discovery, exploration, teamwork and unlimited fun with learning! πŸŽ‰πŸ”¬πŸŒˆβœ¨

🦷✨ Dental Health Week at East Kenwick OSHC ✨πŸͺ₯
This week at East Kenwick OSHC, the children enthusiastically participated in 🦷 Dental Health Week, exploring the importance of looking after their teeth through a variety of fun, hands-on learning experiences. 🌟
πŸͺ₯ The children practised brushing their teeth while learning the correct brushing technique and discussing why it is important to brush twice a day. They also enjoyed creating a πŸ‘„ mouth and teeth craft, which helped them identify different parts of the mouth and understand how teeth help us eat, smile, and speak. 😁
πŸ₯•πŸŽ During our healthy eating activities, the children tasted a selection of nutritious foods and sorted pictures into foods that are good for our teeth βœ… and foods that are not healthy for our teeth ❌. This encouraged meaningful conversations about making healthy food choices and how sugary foods can affect our oral health. 🍭➑️🦷
πŸ” One of the favourite activities was the "Where Is My Tooth?" game, where children searched for a hidden tooth. This exciting game promoted teamwork 🀝, observation πŸ‘€, and problem-solving while reinforcing the week's learning. The children also used playdough to create their own teeth 🦷 before comparing them with their own smiles πŸ˜„, encouraging curiosity and self-awareness.
πŸ’¬ Throughout the week, the children were highly engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their own experiences of visiting the dentist πŸ§‘β€βš•οΈ and brushing their teeth at home. There were plenty of smiles 😊, giggles πŸ˜‚, and excited conversations as they discovered new facts about keeping their teeth healthy.
🌈 Our group discussions showed that the children have developed a genuine interest in learning more about oral health. In response to their curiosity, we will extend this learning next week by exploring the role of dentists 🦷, practising healthy oral care routines πŸͺ₯, reading stories πŸ“š, and engaging in more creative and investigative activities to build on their knowledge and confidence.🦷🦷🦷
