As the seasons begin to change, we’ve been noticing something wonderful happening all around us — colour is bursting back into our world!
We took our curiosity outdoors and went on a Nature Colour Hunt. With our little clipboard in hand, we searched high and low for treasures that matched our colourful swatches.
We discovered sunny yellow flowers, fresh leafy greens, vibrant reds and earthy browns but we didn't find anything white or blue. Well, nothing we could physically add to our sheet becausethe white clouds and blue sky were to high to reach! We carefully collected little pieces of nature — flowers, leaves, twigs, berries and seed pods — and placed them alongside the colours we had found.
There was so much stopping, looking, touching and wondering. We weren’t just seeing colour; we were beginning to notice how the changing season is transforming the environment around us.

What started as a simple colour hunt became a wonderful reminder that nature is our ever-changing palette, and when we slow down and really look, there are treasures hiding everywhere. 💛💚❤️💙🤎

Today our garden became a place of discovery as we headed out on a snail hunt! We looked carefully beneath the grevillea, around the garden beds, amongst the leaves and even wondered, “Maybe there could be one near here?”
Our searching paid off! We discovered snails of different sizes and colours, along with empty shells. One little discovery brought a thoughtful response: “Oh no, this one died. That’s so sad.” This showed such beautiful empathy and an understanding that these tiny creatures are living things that deserve our care.
We carefully collected a few snails so we could observe them closely. We offered them some fresh grass and watched as they explored their temporary little home. We were patient and gentle, giving the snails time to move at their own pace.
But our investigation didn't stop there! We brought our curiosity inside and used our digital microscope to take a much closer look. Suddenly, the tiny details of our snail became enormous on the screen. We could see its delicate skin, texture and even its eye stalks!

The children were fascinated by how something so small could reveal so many incredible details when we slowed down and looked closely.

Our snail hunt became so much more than simply finding snails. It was an opportunity to practise observation, patience, gentle care, empathy and scientific thinking. We wondered, we searched, we noticed, we compared and we asked questions — all while developing a deeper appreciation for the tiny lives sharing our garden with us.

And perhaps most importantly, we discovered that sometimes the smallest creatures can inspire the biggest curiosity. 💚🐌🔍

Today, Rumi noticed something very important — a little bee was struggling in the water. He carefully brought it to my attention, and together we worked out how we could help.
Using our binoculars, I gently scooped the tiny bee from the water and placed it somewhere safe. We watched closely as it began beating its wings, trying to dry itself and get ready to fly again. We eventually decided to gently place him by a tree, carefully moving him with a leaf.
"Bye bee!" said Alice, giving him a little wave.
Some passers by thanked us for our kindness and it made us feel good ❤️

It was such a small moment, but it reminded us that every life matters, no matter how tiny. Rumi showed such care and empathy by noticing the bee and wanting to help. We talked about how we can be gentle with the creatures we share our world with and how even our smallest actions can make a difference.

Today, we didn't just save a bee — we practised kindness, compassion and caring for our natural world. 💛🐝

After our bushwalk this morning, we were excited to take a closer look at some of the special treasures we had discovered along the way.
We gathered our little finds—including feathers, flowers, leaves, rocks and other interesting pieces of nature—and brought them to our digital microscope. One by one, the children used the microscope to explore their treasures, carefully moving the camera and watching the images appear on the screen.
The children were fascinated to see how different their treasures looked when magnified. A simple feather suddenly revealed tiny lines and patterns, while the flowers and natural materials showed textures and details that were almost impossible to see with our eyes alone.
There were lots of moments of curiosity, discussion and excitement as the children compared what they could see and wondered about the tiny details hiding within nature.
What began as a simple bushwalk continued into a wonderful investigation—slowing down, looking closely and noticing the little things that make up our natural world. 🌿🔬✨

Mindfulness Monday.
What can we hear?
What do we see?

When we slow down and notice all of the small things, the big things are even more amazing 🕸🐸🌞🪺🌳

On our bush walk we not only captured this moment but we heard and saw Kookaburras up in a hollow tree, nesting and talking to each other, we noticed so many webs and little spiders and Daisy and Rumi spotted grevillea. They were INCREDIBLY excited to share that discovery with all of us!
Alice labelled plants as "soft' or "spiky" and Astrid spotted SO many flowers.
