๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ˜‚ 8 CLOTHING IDIOMS THAT NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS USE EVERY SINGLE DAY ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘•

And no, none of them are actually about clothes.

That is the tricky thing about idioms. You cannot translate them word by word. You just have to know them.

And in PTE Listening, when a speaker drops one of these naturally into a conversation, you have about two seconds to understand it before the audio moves on.

So letโ€™s make sure you are ready ๐Ÿ‘‡
1๏ธโƒฃ Roll up your sleeves = prepare to work hard
2๏ธโƒฃ Dress for success = wear clothes that make a good impression
3๏ธโƒฃ Wear many hats = have many different responsibilities
4๏ธโƒฃ Fit like a glove = fit perfectly
5๏ธโƒฃ Pull up your socks = improve your performance or effort
6๏ธโƒฃ Hand me down = something passed from one person to another
7๏ธโƒฃ Lose your shirt = lose a lot of money
8๏ธโƒฃ Wear your heart on your sleeve = show your emotions openly

Now here is the one that should speak directly to every PTE student right now:
Number 5. Pull up your socks.

If your practice scores are not where you need them to be, it is not too late. But it is time to pull up your socks and get serious about your preparation.

Your turn ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ’ฌ Use any idiom from this list in a sentence in the comments. Make it about your PTE journey, your life, anything. Letโ€™s see how creative you can get.

Save this post so you can come back to it before your next Speaking or Writing practice.

๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿงช 20 SCIENCE WORDS THAT KEEP SHOWING UP IN PTE READING AND LISTENING ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”ฌ

Be honest.
Have you ever been in the middle of a PTE Listening task and heard a word like โ€œhypothesisโ€ or โ€œecosystemโ€ and completely lost track of the whole passage trying to figure out what it meant?

That is exactly how one unfamiliar word costs you an entire question.

Science is one of the most common topics in PTE Academic. Passages about research, experiments, technology and the environment appear constantly across Reading, Listening and even Writing tasks.
So if this vocabulary is not already in your head before test day, you are going into the exam at a disadvantage.

Save this post and test yourself tomorrow.
Cover the definitions and see how many you already know. The ones you get wrong?
Those are your study words for the week.

Building vocabulary this way โ€” in context, with meaning, not just memorising word lists โ€” is exactly what gets your PTE Reading and Listening scores moving.

Want a full structured study plan that covers every section of the PTE from vocabulary to speaking fluency?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Grab my FREE PTE Study Kit through the link in my bio. It is free and it is the smartest first step you can take today.
Your score goal is closer than you think. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ 23 IDIOMS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR ENGLISH SOUND FLUENT OVERNIGHT ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

Let me tell you a story using todayโ€™s idioms. See how many you can spot ๐Ÿ‘‡

Maria thought PTE was going to be a piece of cake. She had been burning the midnight oil for weeks, studying every night after work. But when her first mock score came back, she realised her low score was just the tip of the iceberg. There were gaps in her preparation she had completely missed.
She was in hot water.
For a moment she thought about cutting corners and just booking the exam anyway. But deep down she knew she could not turn a blind eye to the problem. So instead she decided to leave no stone unturned.
She went the extra mile. She raised the bar for herself. And on exam day, even under pressure, she weathered the storm.
Her result? Worth its weight in gold.

Save this post. Read the story again tonight and see how naturally the idioms land the second time.

That is exactly how your brain learns to use them in your own Speaking and Writing responses.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ YOUR PTE WRITING SCORE IS SUFFERING BECAUSE OF THESE WORDS ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ๏ธ

โ€œVery important.โ€
โ€œA lot of people.โ€
โ€œI think this is good.โ€

If any of those phrases just appeared in your last practice essay... we need to talk.

Here is the hard truth. Simple words are not wrong. But in an academic English test like PTE, they signal a limited vocabulary range. And your score reflects that directly.

The fix takes less than 5 minutes to learn.

Now read your last essay back and count how many times you used the words on the left. Then replace them with the words on the right.

That one edit alone will make your writing sound more academic, more precise and more like someone who deserves a high score.

Save this post right now. Screenshot it. Put it next to you every time you practice writing.

And if you want a full study plan that covers Writing, Speaking, Reading and Listening all in one place, my FREE PTE Study Kit is the perfect starting point.

Your words matter. Choose better ones. ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ฅ 24 WORD SWAPS THAT WILL INSTANTLY MAKE YOUR PTE ANSWERS SOUND SMARTER ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿง

Here is a challenge for you.
Read these two sentences and tell me which student scores higher:
Student A: โ€œGovernments need to find ways to stop pollution and keep the environment safe.โ€
Student B: โ€œGovernments are required to identify strategies to prohibit pollution and preserve the environment.โ€

Same idea. Same meaning. Completely different score.

That is the power of synonyms in PTE Academic. And it applies to every single section. Writing, Speaking, Reading comprehension, all of it.

The good news? You do not need to invent new ideas. You just need better words for the ones you already use.

Here are 24 swaps to start using today ๐Ÿ‘‡
COMMON = frequent / widespread ASK = enquire / request BUILD = construct / develop CHOOSE = select / determine FAST = rapid / swift FIND = discover / identify KEEP = retain / preserve LIMIT = restrict / constrain NEED = require / demand CAUSE = trigger / generate SHARE = distribute / convey RISE = ascend / escalate REDUCE = diminish / lessen ALLOW = permit / authorise DESCRIBE = outline / portray EXPECT = anticipate / predict FOCUS = concentrate / prioritise LEAD = guide / direct MEASURE = assess / evaluate PLAN = organise / strategise PREVENT = prohibit / hinder SOLVE = resolve / address SUGGEST = propose / recommend KNOW = recognise / comprehend

Save this post right now and come back to it every time you practice.

Pick five words from this list each week. Use them in sentences. Use them in your mock tests. Use them until they feel as natural as the simple words you are replacing.

That is how real vocabulary growth happens.

And if you want a complete study plan that tells you exactly what to study, when to study it and how to hit your target PTE score, my FREE PTE Study Kit has everything you need to get started.

๐Ÿ†โšฝ๏ธ 8 SPORT IDIOMS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR ENGLISH SOUND NATIVE โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ†

Here is the thing about idioms.
They show up in natural spoken English, but a lot of students donโ€™t study them.

So letโ€™s fix that right now ๐Ÿ‘‡
1๏ธโƒฃ Throw in the towel = give up or admit defeat
2๏ธโƒฃ Step up to the plate = take responsibility or face a challenge
3๏ธโƒฃ The ball is in your court = it is your decision now
4๏ธโƒฃ Hit it out of the park = do something extremely well
5๏ธโƒฃ Get the ball rolling = start something
6๏ธโƒฃ Level playing field = a fair situation for everyone
7๏ธโƒฃ Move the goalposts = change the rules or expectations unfairly
8๏ธโƒฃ Keep your eye on the ball = stay focused on the task

Now here is a challenge for you ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ’ฌ Use ANY of these idioms in a sentence in the comments. Bonus points if you make it about your PTE journey.

I will start: The ball is in your court. You have the study material. You have the time. The only question is whether you are going to get the ball rolling today.

Save this post for your next Speaking or Writing practice session. Using even one idiom naturally can elevate your response from good to impressive.

And if you want a full structured plan to hit your target PTE score, my FREE PTE Study Kit is waiting for you.

Do not throw in the towel. You are closer than you think. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿ˜ฑ PHRASAL VERBS ARE DESTROYING YOUR PTE LISTENING SCORE AND YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW IT ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ‘‚

Here is what happens.
You are sitting in your PTE Listening task. The audio is playing. Everything is going fine until the speaker says โ€œwe decided to call off the meetingโ€ and your brain freezes for half a second trying to process it.

Half a second is all it takes to miss the next sentence.
That is what phrasal verbs do when you have not studied them. They are everywhere in natural spoken English and the PTE Listening section is full of them.

The frustrating part? Once you know them they are actually simple. Two or three words that together mean something completely different to what you would expect.

Now your turn ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ’ฌ Use any phrasal verb from this list in a sentence in the comments. Bonus points if it relates to your PTE study journey.
I will start: Do not let a slow start let you down. You can always make up for lost time if you narrow down your focus and count on a solid study plan.

Save this post and review it before your next Listening practice session.

And if you want that solid study plan I just mentioned, my FREE PTE Study Kit is waiting for you through the link in my bio.

๐Ÿšจโš ๏ธ IF YOU WRITE โ€œWEโ€ IN YOUR PTE ESSAY YOU ARE LOSING MARKS โš ๏ธ๐Ÿšจ
I know. Nobody told you this.

And thatโ€™s exactly why so many test takers are shocked when their Writing score comes back lower than expected.

Hereโ€™s the problem:
โ€œWeโ€ is informal. PTE Academic Writing requires a formal, academic tone. The moment you write โ€œwe should protect the environmentโ€ or โ€œwe need to take actionโ€... the AI scoring system picks it up.

It sounds like a conversation, not an essay.
The fix is simple. Replace โ€œweโ€ with a specific subject:
๐Ÿ‘ young people
๐Ÿ‘ adults
๐Ÿ‘ local residents
๐Ÿ‘ urban populations
๐Ÿ‘ rural communities
๐Ÿ‘ people around the world
๐Ÿ‘ many people
๐Ÿ‘ a large number of individuals
๐Ÿ‘ the majority of people
๐Ÿ‘ a growing number of people
Save this list right now and use it every time you practice.

Instead of โ€œWe should reduce plastic useโ€ try โ€œA growing number of people believe plastic consumption must be reduced.โ€
See the difference? That one swap alone makes your essay sound more academic, more structured and more score worthy.

This is exactly the kind of tip that separates a 65 from a 79+.
