Monday 15th of April, we played at Pia's Place and had a picnic in Whiteman Park.
Here is today's highlights:
Educator Daniel shared: For the final day of Vacation Care, we went to Pia’s Place at Whiteman Park. The kids had a blast on the flying fox, where Lisa was willing to challenge anyone to a race. Even I got a turn on the flying fox! There was heaps of climbing equipment, and a giant lighthouse the kids could climb up. The view at the top was great! After a long play, we had a sausage sizzle, then the kids got right back into playing. I couldn’t have asked for a better final day at Quinns Kids. I’ll be sad to go but it’s been really great getting to know the kids over the last year and a half. They’re all wonderful and I’m sure that even bigger and better things are in store for them. Wishing them the very best,
Educator Izak shared: This morning when I arrived energies were high in anticipation for the excursion, I played some awesome action packed races with the Hot-Wheels and the ramp alongside Joel, Kian and Jack. I also got to spectate a super tense match of Chess between William and Ashton, which kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through! Later on during the Excursion at Pia’s Place some of the children sought me out to help push them on the big swing, it was a super fun activity; Brody, Jack, William, Atarah and Neela all had a go at one point, it was great to see them taking turns so well! Afterwards I scaled up the huge Lighthouse in the park alongside Fiadh, Daniel, Brody, Hunter and Jack, it was awesome, some of the boys even told me about their game of soldiers, which was super imaginative!

After that, while the first group went to McDonald's, Hunter and I played cricket, then Oliver M and Rochelle played volleyball together. The second group then went to McDonald's for an ice cream and a play, then we got back just in time before the thunderstorm started! We had a quiet indoors afternoon after that to stay out of the rain, with lots of colouring-in and a movie.

Thursday 11th of April, Today we have a day of inventing our own chocolate, playing with chocolate slime, and creating bubbles with pipecleaners, searching for the golden egg and completing an egg and spoon race.
Here is today's highlights:
Educator Kirsty shared: Today we had w***y wonka day, we made chocolate edible slime, Lizzy, Lucia, Milly, Christian, Robson and Oliver experimented using coconut milk and flour to make different consistency. It was really messy but we had lots of fun! Free play was cars and the town mat, connect magnets and dinosaurs on the lego table. Down stairs in the nature play ground, basketball, soccer and a egg and spoon race was going on. We also have been doing lots of different colouring in and free drawing and painting.
Educator Tara shared: This morning, I created candy canes using pipecleaners with Natalia, Grace W, Parker, Fiadh, Isi and Neala. A few friends created candy canes, some tied together and created hearts joining them together and one friend created a lollipop. Before morning tea, I shared a story of a child creating mud pies then we played the chocolate game. It was a real hit! After morning tea, children created and invented their own candy creation. Some friends even commented on the lolliepop patty pans saying they looked like candy from W***y Wonka.

Monday 8th April, the children created their own woodwork making a choice of an aeroplane or four legged friend to take home!!
Here are a few highlights:
Educator Tara shared: This morning, I begun a puzzle with Parker. Then, during our yarn I shared a story called "watcha building?" by Andrew Daddo. I asked my friends what they would build-"Cubby house" said Robson, "Slide for my pool" said Miranda, "Tree house" said Rochelle and Caelyn. "House for my puppy" said William, "a ladder" said Lachie and "a race car" said Brodie. Then I split the children into groups to build our own aeroplane and four legged friend to take home. "This is therapuetic!" some friends shared - as they were painting their creations. They look so amazing!
Educator Mandy shared: This morning after breakfast the children played Lego and Miranda made a crocodile pen. Robson was busy making creations with the magnetic tiles. Kylah and Sienna were at the hair salon trying to straighten and tame the models hair. After morning tea the older children went to play outside and the kindy and pre primary children made a wooden 4 legged friend. We helped them with glueing and hammering in the legs and the head. They then added eyes and painted their animals. They all did an amazing job.

Today we ventured to the movies to see Kung Fu Panda!
Here are a few highlights:
Educator Karen shared: This morning before we went to the movies, the children did a bit of colouring and also playing the magnet game. We watched a great movie, Kung Fu Panda, which the children loved. On the return from the movies, Amelia decided to become a school teacher and had around 8 noisy children pretending to be naughty. All good fun. We decided that Amelia would make a good teacher. My last day working today, I will really miss you all and wish you well for the future.
Educator Tara shared: What a wonderful way to spend the end of the week-spending time with my friends at the movies watching Kung Fu Panda! I started my morning off drawing ung Fu Panda with Sienna. What a talented drawer! We arrive at cinema 6-with the cinemas to ourselves! The movie was "amazing" said Robson, "good" said George, "it was Amazing!" said Ashton. I was extremely impressed with my friends as we walked into two lines to and from the cinemas-they held a partners hands whilst walking. Way to go Quinns Kids!

Yesterday we split into two-nerf gun wars and pamper day.
Here are a few highlights:
Educator Mandy shared: This morning we made face masks from natural yoghurt, honey and pink himalayan salt and we painted this onto the childrens faces. We also had circles of cucumber to put onto their eyes while they relaxed on the cushions listening to relaxing Bali music in the Quinns Kids salon. I think lots of them just wanted to eat the cucumber ! We also had nail painting by Kirsty with glitter. Another activity was drawing around our hands on a big roll of brown paper and drawing on nails and colouring them in with textas and making cool designs with different patterns. Lots of fun was had by everyone.
Educator Jed shared: We had a really fun day today with Nerf guns! Dan, Tara, and I hid a bear puppet for two teams of seven kids to find first while shooting each other with the Nerf bullets. Lizzie, Brodie, Grace, as well as a few others found the teddy to win for their teams in their respective rounds! It was some of the kids first time learning how to shoot and aim the Nerf gun.

After a great first day of Vac Care, we are excited to get rolling with Wheels for Wheels day on the 3rd of April. Most of our activities are centred around this theme. Today we are reading, making maps, mindfulness colouring in, drawing/designing our own vehicles, having a car wash (hot wheels style of coarse) and creating ramps for the Hot Wheels cars to.
Here are a few highlights:
Educator Daniel shared: It was really cool seeing the all the different types of bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerskates the kids brought in today. The kids took turns with each other's rides very generously, but the highlight for me was definitely watching Oliver run alongisde all the other kids on their bikes, complete with his helmet on and everything. After that, Ashton and I played tag downstairs then got out the hotwheels track to play with some of the other boys. Hunter and I then played in the sandpit with the toy diggers.
Educator Tara shared: What a lovely day to see all my friends ride their vehicles outside! From bikes, scooters, rollerblades and skateboards! It was lovely seeing the children smile whilst doing laps around the basketball court! The highlight for me was when the children rode together and share their wheels. We even had children run out in the middle of the court, and the children all stopped at once-it looked something like a flash dance! I was extremely impressed when how the children was safely driving around the courts!

2nd of April we had our Easter Hat Parade. Where we decorated Easter hats and masks, went on an egg hunt and made chocolate egg nests.
Here are a few highlights:
Educator Kirsty shared: Today was a very full on day. The children were all hyper but over tired from the wonderful weekend they had. We heard all about the easter adventures they had. This morning I ran a activity where we decorated calico bags by drawing the easter bunny using stencils. We then made a mix of paint and glue and painted them. We added the glue so the glitter we sprinkled on them would stick. But my favourite part of the day was after lunch I sat with Rueban, Elizabeth, Miranda and Grace and watched from a safe distance a man with a high pressure cleaner clean the paths, ceiling, windows and walls. I failed misrebly at explaining why it was dangerous if the high pressure cleaner was to hit you. The children are not silly and understood more than I expected.
Educator Mandy shared: After lunch myself and Izak went and hid chocolate eggs in the Nature Playground.I stayed down to make sure the crows didnt steal them while the children were on their way down but one still managed to steal a bright red egg and fly away ! The children had lots of fun hunting for the eggs. We then made Easter hats and decorated Bunny ears with feathers, stickers, colouring pens and LOTS of glitter. The children did an awesome job and did a parade outside and they all looked amazing.
