✨️ Did you know that everyday activities like solving puzzles, enjoying nature, sharing hugs and listening to music are all effective sensory tools? Research shows that these activities stimulate our senses, enhance cognitive functions, and improve emotional wellbeing.
🧩For example, solving puzzles can boost problem solving skills and cognitive development. Spending time in nature has been linked to reduced stress and improved mood. Hugs and physical touch release oxytoxin, which promotes feelings of connection and reduces anxiety. Music, as a multi-sensory experience, aids in sensory regulation and enhances motor skill development!
💖 Sensory tools are not just the toys we often see! Although they are also amazing tools! Did any of these surprise you? Or do you already utilise these in your life? Let me know in the comments!

What's something I always need in my sensory kit? A pair of noise cancelling headphones, a liquid timer and a fidget or squishy of some sort....at least!
Oops...that was more than one! I can't help it! 🥰
I really want to hear from those who use them...what is your number one sensory tool in your kit and why?
Please tell me in the comments below, we can all learn so much from each other!
If you ever need help with all things sensory, message me and I'm happy to help.
The Sensory Collective is not just a shop of products, it is an experience and I provide a more personal service that you just can't get from bigger businesses!

I'm interested to know who, out of those reading this, can sit and focus for 1.5 hours straight? Listening to someone talking, watching a PowerPoint, no bathroom breaks, no breaking your concentration, just no, no, no!!! 😋
See where I'm going with this? 😆
Your students deserve a wriggle, a brain break, a dance break, or a sensory break. Dare I say, they may sometimes just need a two minute walk to the drink fountain/bathroom and back for a break!
Two things will happen. Your students will feel like you care about them and understand them, and they will feel refreshed to continue learning. It is a 2, 5, or 10-minute investment that will pay off for everyone.
Give the kids a break. They deserve it 🥰😉
I'm interested to know your thoughts. Do you agree or disagree ? Let me know in the comments!

When incorporating sensory tools in the classroom, you create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment and your students will be so appreciative! It doesn't come without challenges though, but don't give up. Find what works and use those amazing behaviour management skills that you have! Here are some ways you can incorporate sensory breaks into your classrooms:
✨Flexible/Alternative Seating: Offer active seating options that allow movement, such as wobble chairs or stability balls. Movement is one of the best sensory breaks!
✨Weighted Items: Provide weighted toys or small blankets. Many students' focus and regulation will benefit from the weight on them!
✨Noise Reduction: Offer earplugs or noise-muffling headphones to minimize auditory distractions. These would be one of my most used tools in my classroom!
✨Mindfulness Activities: Create a quiet space where students can engage in mindfulness activities using sensory toys and breathing exercises. Make it a safe space, not a reward space! It should be a boundary that when entered, students can have reduced sensory overload.
Remember, all our classes need different things. Try and see what works. Keep the conversations going around reminding students how to use these tools effectively, because they naturally become a bit more relaxed with it over time!
What other things do you do in your classroom to offer sensory assistance?

I've created this Regulation Tool Kit for parents and educators of young people who need support with regulating their emotions. Easy to use, open ended and suitable for multi ages and needs, this resource is a wonderful way to get to know the human you are assisting. Out with the 'one size fits all' and in with the 'personalised approach'.
Comment 'toolkit' for your instant and FREE download!!! 🎉
* Please note: This is not a behaviour management resource and we are reiterating that feeling sad or frustrated is ok. We are learning to manage our reactions to these emotions with tools and strategies that will hopefully be lifelong skills. ❤️

I am so honoured to be thought of as a business who is helping people with additional needs.
My mission is to normalise the use of sensory tools so that those who need them to cope with each day don't feel like they stand out. I can't wait for when I no longer hear, "I don't want my child to use these because they'll look different." Whether you're wearing a fidget ring or utilising sensory tools in your classroom for all students to have access to, you're helping me do this.
Thank you CAPE Ability Network and I can't wait for the gala night this week. Whether I win or not, I'm honoured that I'm noticed in this field. 💞
